My dearest MoM siblings,
One of last Monday's lectionary readings referenced the reception Paul and Barnabus received in Lycaonia (Acts 14.5-18).
You certainly hauled out the fatten oxen and garland wreathes at my Adios Mass! Thank you for adding tears of joy to those of sadness, for the touching accolades and moving memories we've shared since 2014, for the prayers, the hugs, and the lovely stole.
You will always be a part of who I am and am yet to be.
Continue being "a Eucharistic people, the body of Christ incarnate, the blood of Christ poured out for the life of the world."
Blessings, Fr. Michael

Faith Family Hospitality (FHN)
Our Nights to Serve
Dear M.o.M family,
Our next week to accompany unhoused families will be the week of June 22, and our nights to serve are Monday, June 23 and Tuesday, June 24. (If those nights do not work for you, you may certainly sign up for other nights). We work with two other congregations, Saint Paul's and Christ United Methodist Church, and volunteer at Christ United Methodist Church at 301 Drake Road.
So for each night, Monday and Tuesday, we are looking for volunteers for the following help:
-
3 Cooks: to prepare and serve, then clean up for our families from 5:30 to 7:30. The cooks decide on a menu, and are asked to put it on a sign up about a week beforehand. We receive the numbers of adults and children to be served the Thursday before our service rotation.
-
2 Evening Hosts: to eat dinner and visit with our families from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays there is also a need for someone to entertain and watch the children as parents meet with a FHN staffer.
-
2 Overnight Hosts: to arrive at 8 pm and spend the night in designated rooms until 7 am and to serve as a support to the families if any needs arrive.
Please consider volunteering, as it is very gratifying to be of help and service to families who are temporarily experiencing difficulty. "Let us be the hands and feet of Christ"!!! The sign up genius link is below.....do not hesitate to contact me, Lynne Barnes (970-420-6462) or Jean Christen (970-213-7808) with your questions.
There are helpful videos available that we can direct you to, if you have never helped in this ministry before. Thank you and God bless you.....

Hello friends.
I am sending you this email because you are an important friend and ally for Light of Christ. It is amazing to think that this year on Pentecost we are celebrating our 20th Anniversary as a community in the Ecumenical Catholic Communion.
I wanted you to know about our celebration on Saturday June 7th. Mass is at 5pm and a party in the Fellowship Hall will be after Mass. Please consider joining us. And if you can, bring a small side dish.
No RSVP is required. But we share this invitation with you because you are part of why we continue to be Light of Christ after 20 years.

The 301 Faith Partners Garden Needs Volunteers
There has never been a more appropriate time for a garden! We need locally grown food, both for ourselves and for the greater community, and the 301 Faith Partners supply some of this need through our garden.
But we need volunteers!
People who want to get their hands dirty in a productive and life-giving way, people who like to steward growing things, and people who value community are asked to please volunteer to help out with this worthwhile project of bringing healthy food to our little place in the world.
Email Nyla Anderson and offer your service!! nander0620@aol.com

Information on Public Efforts to defend #TeachTruth
Erasing history paves the way for ethnic, racial, and religious nationalism. When you censor the history of social movements, you make citizens feel like they have no agency, and so it’s an anti-democratic education. — Jason Stanley
Young people face immense challenges — racism, war, gun violence, climate crisis, voter suppression, and more. However, across the country there is a push to criminalize teaching honestly about U.S. history and to restrict students’ ability to ask questions and engage in critical thinking.
To protect young people’s right to learn. Check out the Zinn Education Project
