Everyone in our ECC family is invited to the Synod closing Mass
at 10 AM at the YMCA Hyde Chapel in Estes Park TOMORROW
(No 12:30 Mass)
Hyde Chapel, 2515 Tunnel Rd, Estes Park, CO 80511
| | |
All are invited to attend the Synod Mass tomorrow, Sunday, October 13th in Hyde Chapel at the YMCA of the Rockies Camp in Estes Park. PLEASE NOTE: The time for this Mass has changed to 10:00am.
Bishop Paul is the presider. Originally, Deacon Besem Etchi was going to be the homilist, but she can no longer attend due to the fact that her visa was denied. The homilist is still TBD- as Fr. Harroun likes to say, the Holy Spirit is keeping us on our toes!
The Mass will also be broadcast on YouTube (click here to join) and will be the Sunday morning Mass for the entire ECC, but those who live in Colorado, even if you are doing nothing else at Synod, are invited to join in person. Take a drive up to Estes Park, meet others in the ECC from around the nation, make a joyful noise praising God, and join in the worship of Mass like no other. Our God is good.
You do not need to pay the Synod daily registration fee in order to attend this Mass.
As a reminder, there will be NO Mass in the sanctuary tomorrow.

Mystery Contribution
Mary of Magdala was very fortunate to receive a large contribution in September via the financial institution LPL Financial out of San Diego. Unfortunately, there was no member's or friend's name associated with this generous contribution. We would love to associate this with an individual(s) to have accurate end-of-year tax reporting for all.
Anonymous will certainly work for us (thank you, thank you) but if you want to have your donation identified please email Mary of Magdala (marymagdalafc@gmail.com) with your name and address and the amount contributed.
Thank you to all who contribute to the mission and vision of Mary of Magdala in time, talent, and treasure.

Fort Collins Immigration Legal Fund and Eviction Legal Fund Update
Many thanks to all who signed our letter to the Fort Collins City Council, supporting the inclusion of Immigration Legal Fund and Eviction Legal Fund in the 2025-2026 City Budget.
We collected approximately 64 signatures from 301 Faith Partner folks! These were part of the 250+ signatures handed over to the City Council by ISAAC.
The text of the letter we sent is attached.
-301 Faith Partners Joint Social and Eco Justice Committee
(edited message from Arpi Miller dated October 8, 2024)
I want to say a million thanks to this core group of organization/advocates and faith leaders for your work in fighting for the Eviction and Immigration Funds. They are both now officially elevated into the 2025-2026 proposed budget.
Our work truly made all the difference, we didn’t allow the city to take away these funds away or pit them against one another. Our strategy of marrying the funds together worked, and we did the work just in time so that we could win this campaign before we had to go too public and call out the opposition.
Thanks to each of you for all your time! More importantly thanks to our fellow organizations for doing the work that produced such solid results it was hard for anyone to mount an argument against us! And thank you to faith communities for your individual and institutional sign-on letters of support. We handed over about 250+ individual signatures and support from about 35 secular and religious institutions at the end of the day.

Oct. 17: Foster Homes Sought for Youth
For those interested in providing a home for Colorado or refugee minors, Changing the Life of a Child will be presented from 6-7:30 pm Thursday, Oct. 17. Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains is looking for individuals and families who can provide safe and loving homes for unaccompanied refugee minors, often from Central and South America. 301 Faith Partners - Groups & Ministries | |
301 Faith Partners Prayer Group
On the last Monday of each month at 10:30 am, the 301 Faith Partners Prayer Group meets to pray for the 301 Faith Partners! The group opens by calling on the Holy Spirit to be present. They then take one of the Core Values of the 301 Faith Partners and reflect on it. Following this, they engage in Lectio Divina and then share their reflections.
They pray for the clergy and leadership bodies of Mary of Magdala, St. Paul’s, and Trinity. They close with a Litany of God’s Mission for the 301 Faith Partners, which was first prayed at the Bishops’ Blessing on May 31, 2023.

Celebrating the 27th Sunday of Ordinary Time
A recording of readings and homily from October 6th with Fr. Teri Harroun presiding is available here.
Instead of a Social Justice reflection, we gave the congregation a sneak preview of a video about Mary of Magdala conceived, created and produced by David Cloyd as our entry into the 2024 Synod’s Parade of Communities. Just a note of context for the video: in 2022, the ECC Synod was held in St Louis Missouri. This video “continues” from there and so begins with a few scenes from St Louis but then transitions to Colorado for the 2024 Synod.
Other Mass recordings can be accessed via our website here.
