Retrograde in Capricorn -
South Node of the Moon, Saturn and Pluto
Saturn Rubble Of Time
Recently, the two astrological powerhouses of Saturn and Pluto turned retrograde together in Capricorn. They are now traveling in lock step with the South Node of the Moon and this will continue through the Fall of 2019.

Learning to dance (flow) while these guys are marching in lock step (control) means that you will develop life skills that will serve you well beyond this time.

Pluto takes 248 years to transit the zodiac, Saturn takes 29 years, and the Nodes complete a cycle once every 19 years making this lock step movement a once in a lifetime astro-event.

Between April 30 and September 18, Saturn, Pluto and the South Node will all be traveling retrograde in Capricorn and they will be conjunct. You could say that Saturn, Pluto and the South Node are combining their forces and that this will be a powerful combination!

In particular, planets in your birth chart from the degrees of 10 to 25 Capricorn and Cancer (plus Aries and Libra) will be most impacted.
Retrograde Dates:

  • The transiting South Node is Retrograde at 22 Capricorn (the nodes of the Moon always move in a retrograde motion)
  • On April 24, 2019, transiting Pluto turned Retrograde at 23 Capricorn.
  • On April 30, 2019, transiting Saturn turned Retrograde at 20 Capricorn.
Direct Dates:

  • On September 18, 2019, transiting Saturn turns direct at 14 Capricorn.
  • On September 18, 2019 the transiting South Node will be retrograde at 13 Capricorn.
  • On October 3, 2019, transiting Pluto turns direct at 20 Capricorn.
An All Capricorn Moment

With transiting Saturn, Pluto and the South Node in the sign of Capricorn, some themes emerge.

First , the South Node, Saturn and Pluto all share a connection to the past and the karmic patterns established and deepened in the past (in this lifetime and prior lifetimes). In particular:

  • the South Node reveals the connection to our past life efforts,
  • Saturn to our unfinished efforts in past lives, and
  • Pluto to our unresolved unconscious wounds, traumas and compulsions.

Second , the sign of Capricorn has many associations, both challenging and positive. The positive include words like acceptance, truth, maturity and wisdom, while the challenging words include blockage, suppression, fear, doubt, worry, and anxiety.

As Saturn and Pluto turned retrograde, we personally had something resolve that had been pending for 2 years. Maybe you had something from the recent past that has been waiting for resolution arise for you too as these planets turned retrograde. Or, maybe that is yet on the horizon. Be on the lookout!

At times like this, it is important to remember that your Soul has a plan! While Saturn and Pluto can be difficult, they are not randomly trying to make your life challenging, but actually trying to help you embrace your soul’s path in life.

So, a key is to be aware of any emerging feelings of tension or pressure that arise from some aspect of your life. Some tensions or habits may not have an obvious cause as they come from some unconscious aspect of your past that you are unaware of.

Pay attention – work to identify the source and consider what change might be at the heart of the pressure. Consider how you might begin the process of identifying the ways you might be better served and then act on the change.

If the pressures seem to note you have a choice between fighting to keep things as they are OR releasing the pressure via change – consider the benefits of making the change. Then, recognize that it takes dedication to becoming somebody new in order to overcome the forces of the past.

Resistance & Transformation

Saturn and Pluto are two powerhouses who share the qualities of resistance, but also truth and transformation.

Regarding resistance, Saturn represents Father Time and is often depicted among the rubble from the past. In this capacity he resists the future. A prime example of this in myth occurs when Saturn actually eats his children in order to resist the future that his children represent. Fortunately, his wife, Rhea, acts behind the scene so his children are spared death. Those children are: Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto, Juno, Ceres and Vesta.

Pluto represents resistance by wearing the helmet of invisibility. He enters your world through the unconscious where you can’t tangibly recognize him, but you feel his foreboding presence. When you are unable to identify and call out these invisible forces, they essentially control you. In this way, you encounter forces that resist your transformation.

On the positive side, regarding truth and transformation, Saturn is also the one who pulls back the curtain of darkness to reveal the light of truth so you can accept what is in your world and step forward in a more mature manner. While Pluto makes it hard for you in his dark underworld, he demands transformation and he wants you to see the higher truth behind every wound so that you can heal into the strength of divine knowledge. He demands that you trudge through your unconscious patterns so that we can learn to minimize their impact and move to a more conscious, present state of mind.

When Saturn and Pluto are traveling together in the zodiac, we feel the weight of the past, we feel the blockages. Things arise in your unconscious. Situations from the past re-emerge in the present. We feel as though we are not moving forward. We feel heavy and often stuck. This can be a very depressing energy.
It is key to remember that there is a higher purpose in these energies and that means that we rise stronger in the present than the past energy that has held us back.

Resolving Karma

Together, Saturn and Pluto bring pressure and tension, but with the goal for the truth to promote transformation, plus healing and change.

The South Node adds a dimension of your soul’s karma and can feel like a window into your past efforts. Combined with Saturn and Pluto, this window may reveal aspects of that past that have been left unfinished. It is the South Node that might just be adding that special sauce to insure that this time is a catalyst for understanding the truth and allowing that truth to come alive!
With the power of Saturn and Pluto, resistance to change is futile. Here are some important keys to keep in mind.

First, accept the reality that is trying to be known. Don’t attempt to deny what is true.

Second, summon the courage to embrace the change and transform that is being demanded, even when it does not feel emotionally comfortable to do so. You could say, “the truth and change will set you free!”

The Social Impact

This is a really big transit that will likely be connected so societal pressures for change in the United States of America. In the chart for the USA, the transiting South Node, Saturn and Pluto will oppose Mercury, which will energize the need for the truth to be revealed before the USA has its Pluto Return in 2022.

Mercury is connected to the First Amendment to the US Constitution, the guarantee of a free press. Mercury in the 8 th house is the journalist who asks the questions and looking for the clues that reveal the truth. With claims of “fake news”, there is pressure on the press in the US and pressure on the Constitution.

When the Wizard of Oz says “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain”, he is saying, “please don’t find the truth”. However, Saturn is pulling back the curtain and revealing the truth that is meant to be seen by us all. Meanwhile, Pluto is demanding reform and transformation. As a society, transiting Saturn and Pluto are pulling back the curtain to reveal and re-empower the role of the free press and the First Amendment.

While the South Node will move retrograde into the early degrees of Capricorn, transiting Saturn and Pluto will move back and for over the degrees from 20 to 26 of Capricorn through the next presidential election in November 2020.

So, the heavy demands for Saturn’s light of truth and Pluto’s transformation will continue to be part of our social experiences for the next one and a half years.

So, how do you move in harmony with the Sun, Moon and stars? With the South Node, Saturn and Pluto all moving retrograde in Capricorn, watch for karmic patterns and unfinished business to reveal themselves. You have the ability to heal old wounds and unconscious habits.

May you become aware, heal and move forward with new confidence.

Las Vegas Update
Here in the Southwest, we have had more rain through May than we are supposed to receive all year. As California has climbed out of drought, we are benefiting from that same rain heading in our direction.

We have not yet touched 90 degrees, which is also very rare for this time of year. We had a fresh layer of snow on the top of the mountains just two days prior.

We planted tomatoes, but the recent dip in temperatures has not been to their liking as we are in the mid-40's at night. We have planted up our back yard and now we just sit and watch how it flourishes (or not) as our temperatures begin to climb.
