News you can use...
Advice from Jay Larivee
Flight Instructor, Savannah Aviation
"As a flight instructor, I hate when students don't acknowledge the mistakes they make during flight training. It's a concept as old as time itself; you can't learn from your mistakes when you don't acknowledge them, and yet some students would rather hide their faults or worse project them on to someone else (like their flight instructor) rather than owning up to the experience. Making and learning from mistakes is the only way we grow and evolve as humans and is by far the best way to learn. Click the link below to learn more about making mistakes in pilot training!"
This month in Aviation History...
...Capt. Charles “Chuck” Yeager becomes the first person to fly faster than the speed of sound on October 14th, 1947. Yeager “broke the sound barrier” in his Bell X-1 airplane, “Glamorous Glennis,” named after his wife and was able to reach 670-mph (Mach 1.015) at Muroc Dry Lake, California. The research techniques and flight data collected from the X-1 tests proved invaluable to further US fighter design throughout the latter half of the 20th century. How to offset the cost of flight training...
Savannah Aviation is well aware that one of the greatest barriers to achieving the dream of flight is the cost. Everything from aircraft rental, scheduling an instructor, studying and taking the FAA written exam, and other flight training expenses can add up over time and become a burden students simply cannot sustain. The good news is there are plenty of scholarships, grants, and pilot financing programs that can ease the strain on the pocket book and keep the dream of flight alive.
