A very warm (but not too warm to impede the snow!!) welcome to our new Trail and Facilities Attendant Patrick Prosper! Patrick is originally from Newfoundland and has served a combined 35 years in the military and RCMP, both of which involved travelling the world. He has been in Grande Prairie for just over a year and enjoys the area immensely. Patrick and his wife love outdoor activities such as hiking, snowshoeing, overland camping and they look forward to being part of the Wapiti Nordic community. Be sure to say Hi to Patrick when you see him. The Board is confident that he will be able to fill Crawford's "big shoes"!

Looking for a project? We have several pieces of old trail equipment that the Board have approved for disposal. All items sold as is. Stop by and view on Sat, Nov 16th from 10am-12noon at the maintenance building. Cash or cheque only.

Winter | 2024

We’re thrilled to announce that thanks to a Capital Assistance grant from the County of Grande Prairie, WNSC has just purchased a Snowdog Fatbike Trail Groomer! This game-changing equipment will take our winter trail grooming to the next level, ensuring smooth, well-maintained trails for all fatbike enthusiasts. Whether you're a seasoned rider or just starting out, you can look forward to perfectly groomed trails all season long. Get ready for an amazing winter of riding! Stay tuned for updates on our grooming schedule and be sure to hit the trails to experience the difference.

Fall | 2024

Big thanks to all volunteers who have chipped in and helped with Club projects and operations through September, October and into November. This includes internal and external events including: Provincial cross country running event (a success despite the rain!), Ski Swap (Nov 8th), trail mowing and clearing, gathering firewood, coaching, trail equipment maintenance and onboarding our new Trail and Facilities Attendant. We are so fortunate to have first class and dedicated volunteers at Wapiti Nordic! The Club could not run without you! And we can always use more :)

The Children's Learn to Ski program is now open for registration and will fill fast due to limited volunteer leader availability. Parents of children who enrol must take two free SafeSport modules in advance of the start date. Full details and registration link on the webpage (see Info button).

Nov 17 | 2024

This program is for 9-12 year olds and officially starts on Sunday, November 17th. The session runs 11:30am-12:30pm. There are a few spaces open - come on down to the first session if interesred. Or for more information email Cori.

Winter | 2024

Chicks - are you ready for another winter of skiing? Once Mother Nature gives us enough snow, we will hit the trails! Remember to select your yearly Chicks fee of $20 when you purchase your membership online. We will be skiing on Monday and Thursday evenings, on snow at 7:15pm and then head off with our headlamps in different distance groups. Base expectation is being able to ski 3km and can navigate some skills. Stay tuned for an official Chicks start date and a specific night to prep your skis. Not quite ready for 3km? Book a lesson to build confidence then connect with the Chicks!

Jan 10-12 | 2025

It's that wonderful time of the year again when our major fundraiser is launched - just in time for Christmas gift season! Catch one, two or all three shows at NWP - each features a different program of 6-8 independent films covering outdoor adventures, snow sports, mountain biking, culture, environment and more! Friday 10th @ 7pm, Saturday 11th @ 7pm and Sunday 12th @ 2pm matinee. All proceeds to Wapiti Nordic. Don't miss out - tickets will sell out!

The Wapiti Nordic Race team is well under way to training and getting ready for an exciting ski season ahead of us. If you have an athlete who is between the ages of 8-18 years and wants to join us it’s never too late! Please email Claire. Wapiti Nordic will be hosting an Alberta Cup race in 2025 for the first time in years!! We are so excited and in need of volunteers for this amazing weekend event.
