Office of
Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez
Dear Friends,
I'm writing to invite you to a rally that will call for the continued funding of the $1 million in New York State allocation to the Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation for the provision of adult education services to the residents of Northern Manhattan; tomorrow at 176th and 177th streets at 5:50 PM.
If this funding is not maintained, we can expect devastating results, with nearly 2,000 residents of Northern Manhattan losing the opportunity to attend the Adult Literacy, GED and ESL classes that serve as a critical bridge to career enhancement for many members of our community. Although we know that the city and the state are facing ongoing fiscal constraints, I hope you agree with me and believe that as a State we should not be funding our future with a budget that effectively leaves already underprivileged communities less equipped to contribute to the growth of our economy.
Hoping you too envision the perilous economic impacts of a decision not to fund this program, I ask you to join me, Assemblywoman Gabriela Rosa, and State Senator Adriano Espaillat tomorrow at 176th street and Wadsworth to rally to defend the economic empowerment of our community at 5:50 PM.
I thank you in advance for your participation.
Yours,
Ydanis Rodriguez
