The Message this Week

Preaching Text: Acts 8:26-39

Someone to come alongside. Philip gets a nudge from an angel, like Stephen, to help with administration. He gets a nudge from the Holy Spirit that he should go on a journey without any specific destination. Turns out he didn’t have a destination but there was a person who needed him to come alongside to share the Good News. Sometimes we may not be sure why we are in a particular spot or situation. This story reminds us it may not be a why but a who!

Gracious God, help us to trust that we are right where You need us to be and You are right beside us. Thank You for inviting us to be part of Your work. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

WONDERING...

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.

Why do people sometimes vanish in Scripture?

• Give us a heart for the care and preservation of all that you have made, so that it might be restored to wholeness.
• Be with students who are preparing for graduation. Bless them as they move toward this new chapter in their lives.
• Help us to love all people regardless of gender identity and sexual orientation, just as you do.
• Send healing and comfort to all who face uncertainty in regard to their health, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. Grant wisdom and compassion to all who provide their care.
• For people in times of transition, people struggling with issues of identity and value, and people who have taken a step to follow the Spirit without knowing what may come next.
• Thank you for the faithfulness of others whose lives, though over, still impact us today. May we follow their examples in our own daily living.

These and the prayers of all creation we lift to you in Jesus’ name. Amen.
