Save Tuesday, March 24 for CPS's Annual Meeting. We will honor five legislative and grass roots leaders of the Fund Our Future Campaign and champions of the Student Opportunity Act: Senators Jason Lewis and Sonia Chang-Diaz, Charlotte Kelly, as well as parent and student leaders from the campaign.

What an Evening with Diane Ravitch, Barbara Madeloni, Maurice Cunningham & Many of You!

Thanks to all who joined us February 26 to hear Diane Ravitch, Barbara Madeloni and Maurice Cunningham in Cambridge last Wednesday. It was such a special night, full of passion and inspiration and encouragement for the battles ahead.

Your activism is why our resistance to corporate education reform is getting stronger and winning important battles. As Diane says, “resistance is not futile; resistance is powerful.” Her new book, Slaying Goliath: The Passionate Resistance to Privatization and the fight to Save America's Schools, is filled with examples of just how powerful resistance can be.

Schoolyard News: "BPS leaders inch toward a baseline guarantee of programs for every child"

This article, the third in a series, illustrates the ongoing struggle to guarantee that every student in every Boston public school has access to the resources and supports they need to thrive and learn, instead of having to compete for adequate educational staffing and programming.

Alain Jehlen writes, " Schools that fill all their classrooms can offer students a good, comprehensive educational program. Those that don’t attract enough 'customers' (students, or really families) can barely offer a program that meets the legal minimum required by laws about special education and English learners and the Boston Teachers Union contract (and sometimes not even that)."
