February Good Catch Winners of the Month
|
|
Kelley Staples was getting ready to go up on the catwalk of the HP-300 to change screen decks. When getting on the ladder, he noticed it was cracked down the leg, about 4'.
Kelley locked and tagged out the ladder to prevent anyone from using it and being exposed to a fall hazard.

While driving south on Route 7, Mark Gebo noticed a large piece of rubber in the road and alerted the fleet to a potential re-cap tire coming apart. Justin Jordan was driving the truck ahead of Mark, and proceeded to check his tires. He saw that a significant piece of tread had come off in a spot that he could not see while driving. Without Mark bringing the issue to Justin's attention, he may not have noticed it, running the risk of a blow-out later in the day.

Thank you, Kelley and Mark, for keeping an eye out for safety, and thank you to everyone who submitted a Good Catch / Near Miss for the month of February.
Remember, our goal is to have 3 Good Catch/Near Misses for every incident, so please keep those submissions coming. We only have three so far this month - but there's still plenty of time to get one in for March!
