Japan
Japan have shocked the football world with an extraordinary upset victory over powerhouses Germany at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Late goals by Ritsu Doan and Takuma Asano earned Japan the incredible 2-1 comeback victory. Japanese manager Hajime Moriyasu was over the moon. "I believe it is a historic moment, a historic victory," he said.
Japan have not only tasted victory on the football pitch but they're winning hearts off it after a classy act at the World Cup in Qatar that has taken fans by storm. Proving yet again that they are one of the classiest teams in world sport, the Japanese players proceeded to clean their dressing room within an inch of its life, after the victory against Germany. The Japanese players left the dressing room spotless, and made origami cranes for its hosts. The 'Samurai Blue' fans had already made a name for themselves earlier in Qatar, after being spotted cleaning up the mess created by other supporters inside the stadiums. Japanese supporters say respect is entrenched in their culture.
Costa Rica's Keysher Fuller scored to give his team a 1-0 victory over favored Japan on Sunday in World Cup play at Al Rayyan, Qatar. Japan's captain Yoshida Maya noted that Japan cannot advance to the knockout stage unless it beats or draws with Spain on Thursday. He pledged to prepare well for the must-win match.

Qatar
FIFA's decision to hold the FIFA World Cup in Qatar has been made to look even worse after the hosts made some humiliating unwanted history on Friday. With a 3-1 loss to Senegal, Qatar broke the record for the fastest a host nation has ever been knocked out of a World Cup. It was a controversial $220 billion decision to stage the World Cup in the Middle East for the first time, and it is the most expensive World Cup ever.
Qatar's campaign is over after just five days, with Ecuador's 1-1 draw with Netherlands sealing their fate. It marks the shortest amount of time that a host nation has lasted at a World Cup in the event's 92-year history.

Sustainability: JAPAN
Sustainability: this ubiquitous term has become interwoven in everyday life, spurring conversations among businesses and individuals alike. What is sustainability? In simple terms, sustainability is a concept that refers to environmental, social, and economic practices that maintain present day needs without compromising the needs of future generations. This philosophy can be applied to many facets of life but recently has emerged as an important trend in the travel industry. Sustainable actions are imperative not only to maintain the wondrous diversity of the world, but to build a global community that lives in harmony with the environment and each other. In 2015, the United Nations created a list of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to guide nations to a better future.
Surprisingly, Japan has not been known for its sustainable tourism—a preconceived notion that persists to this day despite the country’s long-rooted history in sustainability and its present-day implementation of numerous sustainable practices. In fact, Tokyo provides the perfect snapshot of Japan’s dedication to future harmony. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has set numerous goals for 2030 to become a leader in sustainability such as lowering emissions, increasing renewable energy usage, and reducing food waste. By 2050, Tokyo aims to become a zero-emission city with a net zero carbon goal. Thanks to these future initiatives, sustainable changes are becoming commonplace.
While these “big picture” plans are crucial for directing us toward a sustainable future, the smaller changes are just as important. These “little” practices are often more tangible on an individual level and can send ripples of change through a community.

New Measures to Optimize COVID-19 Response | |
|
The move was made to adapt to the new situation of COVID-19 prevention and control and the new characteristics of the virus mutations to make the response more targeted and science-based, maximize the protection of people's safety and health, and minimize the impact of the epidemic on economic and social development.
The new measures include cutting the COVID-19 quarantine period for close contacts and inbound travelers, according to the circular.
Quarantine for the groups will be cut to five days of quarantine at designated sites plus three days of home quarantine, from the previous seven-day quarantine at designated sites plus three-day health monitoring at home.
Secondary close contacts will no longer be identified, the circular said.
Those who had visited the high-risk areas will be subject to a seven-day home quarantine instead of seven days of centralized isolation as previously required.

HAWAII
An eruption began this Monday morning in Moku‘āweoweo, the summit caldera of Mauna Loa, inside Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park on the Island of Hawaii. USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory confirms that lava has exited the Mauna Loa summit and can be seen on the northeast flank. The northeast flank is not populated and does not pose a threat to any communities at this time.
For the first time in nearly four decades (1984), the biggest active volcano on Earth is erupting. Lava flows from Mauna Loa, at the heart of Hawaii’s Big Island, could threaten some roadways, but otherwise authorities said there was no immediate danger to populated areas.

Starbucks
A coffee experience like no other
Massive new Starbucks just opened in the iconic Empire State Building. What's most notable within the 23,000-square-foot space is the full-service bar and restaurant that takes over the third floor. Bonus points: each seating will include a complimentary tasting of the Starbucks Reserve Empire State Building Microblend, which was created specifically for the new location. It's official: Starbucks has entered the New York City restaurant game.
Two floors below the restaurant, at the concourse level, is the experience area (we are living in the all-things-immersive era, after all). Folks will be able to sign up for a variety of different workshops that will then be led on this floor—think Starbucks Reserve Brewtender for a Day, Whiskey Barrel-Aged 101 and Espresso Martini Flight Fundamentals, for example.
Those interested will also be able to reserve the lounge space for private events.

Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree
Every year we are part of a timeless New York City holiday tradition: lighting the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.
It will be decorated with more than 50,000 multicolored LED lights and a dazzling Swarovski star topper that weighs about 900 pounds and includes 70 spikes covered in three million crystals.
The tree will remain lit daily from 6 a.m. to midnight throughout the holiday season and into early January, so plan your visit accordingly. The only notable exceptions are on Christmas Day, when the tree is illuminated for 24 hours, and on New Year’s Eve, when the tree is lit from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The tree lighting ceremony will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, at Rockefeller Center, and the televised special will be broadcast live on NBC from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET. Expect special festive performances that will fully immerse you in the Christmas spirit.
Don’t miss the 2022 Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony.
