Shabbat Tzedek - Save the Date!
Friday, January 18 at 6:00 p.m.
Join us for an inspirational Shabbat Tzedek, a Sabbath of Justice, to celebrate the values and life of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This year, we will welcome Congresswoman-Elect Ayanna Pressley as our 2019 Shabbat Tzedek speaker. Pressley is an advocate, policy-maker, activist, and survivor. In 2009, she won election to the Boston City Council, marking the first time a woman of color was elected to the Council in its 100-year history. On November 6, 2018, Pressley was elected to represent Massachusetts' 7th Congressional District in Congress; she is first woman of color to represent Massachusetts in Congress.

See who else is planning to come, and stay tuned for more details on the full MLK weekend programming.
Mitzvah-Mobiles (and drivers!) Needed for Rosie's Runs
Temple Israel is trying to do its part to reduce food waste, but we need your help in order to sustain this effort. We are looking for 8-12 members who would be willing to pick up trays of food at TI and take them to Rosie's Place or the Pine Street Inn.  The food has to be delivered quickly to avoid spoilage, so those who volunteer should have flexible schedules. Don't worry about "heavy lifting," as the staff at both TI and Rosie's or Pine Street load and unload.  If you'd like to be part of this mitzvah-mobile corps, please contact Joan Rachlin.

Exploring the Ethics of Touch through Dance
with Ilya Vidrin of Reciprocity Collaborative
Sundays, 10:00-11:30 a.m., January 6, 13, 27
Cost: $75 (members) or $105 (non-members)
What can we learn about ethical, social practice from movement? Inspired by movement practices such as the Tango, Swing, and Latin/Ballroom, we will investigate what it means to partner.

Ilya grew up at Temple Israel. He is a recipient of the Erasmus Fellowship, Bok Fellowship, Live Arts Boston Grant, and Byron Fellowship, and has been an artist-in-residence at AREA, Jacob's Pillow, Interlochen Arts Academy, and the Museum of Fine Arts.

This workshop will focus on basic weight-shifting patterns to practice leaning, gliding, and supporting each other through movement. Comfortable clothing recommended, no previous dance experience necessary. Register.
