Historic Preservation & Downtown Conference
Bristol, VT

This day-long conference will be opened by our keynote speaker Dar Williams, a touring musician and author whose recent book "What I Found in a Thousand Towns" discusses what she calls Positive Proximity or the social capital-building that allows towns to become unique, prosperous and self-reliant.

Williams muses on why some towns flourish while others fail, examining elements from the significance of history and nature to the uniting power of public spaces and food. Drawing on her own travels and the work of urban theorists, Williams offers real solutions to rebuild declining communities.

Following the keynote will be PTV's biennial presentation of Preservation Awards and their stories. Nominate your project here!

The afternoon will include a series of informative, educational and entertaining "Lightening Talks" plus  field sessions that highlight Bristol's recreational opportunities, vibrant Main Street, village green, walkability and many recent preservation efforts.

In addition to the conference field sessions  there will be  ample time to network  including  a reception immediately following the conference.

Stay tuned for more details in Early April.  In the meantime, mark your calendars.  We will see you in Bristol!

This event is made possible by a partnership with the Agency of Commerce and Community Development, the Town of Bristol, and Bristol Core.
