Call for Participation in Research

Arya Boris, a doctoral candidate at Widener University in the Human Sexuality program, is looking for disabled adults who are willing to take a survey which will help advance the our understanding of sexuality education for disabled people.

This survey should take between 10 and 20 minutes and will be completely anonymous. Participants are welcome to receive help from an aide or stop the survey at any time if they need a break or do not want to continue for any reason. Participants will be able to enter a raffle to win a $25 gift card as a thanks for filling out the survey.

Note from the researcher:

"My research looks at what sexuality education disabled people were taught before they became adults. I will ask you what you remember learning about. Then you will tell me how helpful that information was to you. Also, you will tell me where else you learned about this information. I am disabled. I am physically, psychologically, and cognitively disabled. I have had some of my disabilities since I was a child. I do this research to see how disabled people feel about the sexuality education they got. Usually, disabled people do not get to tell people how they feel about what they are taught. I want to change that. I want to give all disabled people the chance to be a part of making learning better for disabled students."

To be eligible, participants must:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have become disabled before they turned 19
  • Have grown up in the United States
  • Cannot have been homeschooled for more than half of their learning
  • Be born in 1990 or later

If you have any questions about this study, contact Arya Boris at aboris@widener.edu or the researcher's faculty advisor, Dr. Pamela Lannutti, at pjlannutti@widener.edu.

Save the Date: Casino Night 2026

Alliance of Disability Advocates' annual fundraiser is coming up soon! Join us on October 15th for an evening of fun, games, and celebration.

This event is a primary contributor to allowing us to sustain our programs throughout the year.

Proceeds will directly support our Adaptive Sports Club, empowering athletes with disabilities through inclusive recreation. Funds will also help sustain the five core services we provide as a Center for Independent Living: Advocacy, Peer Counseling, Independent Living Skills Training, Transition Services, and Information & Referral. Together, we’re building stronger, more inclusive communities.

The Promise We Made to Americans with Disabilities Is Under Attack

by Barbara Merrill, Tony Coelho | Aug 11, 2026
