Our Fund Assistance Program provides $25 gift cards every week to women in our community. Because of our limited resources, we are only able to provide five gift cards per week - all of which are quickly picked up.

Please consider donating your gift card to the Women's Centre to help more women in our community. For more information or to apply for a card please visit Loblaw's website

We've also highlighted two outstanding Black, local women on our most recent blog posting.  Read more about Virnetta Nelson Anderson (pictured above), the first Black person to sit on Calgary City Council, and Violet King Henry, the first Black, female lawyer in Canada.

Raise the Rates
Did you know that single people on Social Assistance, unable to work, receive a base benefit of $833 a month? That's not even half way to the poverty line.

The next provincial budget is open for comment and the Women's Centre is asking the Provincial government to raise social assistance rates. Read more about what you can do here.
