Save the date! Celebrate the Grand Reopening of the Children’s Department and the start of the Summer Reading Program on Saturday, June 3. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m., followed by the Kickoff Party from 2-4 p.m. Check out the refreshed space, take a spin down the slide, and pick up your summer reading goodie bag (including mini LEGO kits, while supplies last). Join us for Sensory Storytime on Mondays from 10-11 a.m. at Grand Forks Public_. Led by Anne Carlsen Early Intervention team, Sensory Storytime is intended for children of all abilities, ages 0-3. Enjoy a story, craft, and playtime in the community’s playground for curious minds!

Chinese Calligraphy Workshop


In honor of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month we are offering a free Chinese Calligraphy Workshop on Saturday, May 20, at 2 p.m. Join San-Francisco based artist Jojo Liu in this live, interactive hour-long session either from home or at the library. Jojo will be teaching traditional Chinese calligraphy basics via Zoom. While the class size is unlimited, we will be providing supply kits for the first 25 people who sign up!

Retro Gaming Day


On Saturday, May 20, from 3-4 p.m., we will have a Sega Genesis console hooked up to one of our gaming stations for patrons to play! The Sega Genesis was a console released by Sega and had a lifespan from 1988-1997. People may be familiar with Sonic the Hedgehog, which was a well-known game released by Sega. Patrons can experience the nostalgia of playing a “retro” console from their past, and young patrons can experience it for the first time!

Come celebrate the wonderful world of animation on Sunday, May 21, at our AniMay program, featuring a cozy Studio Ghibli-themed hangout. There will be snacks and crafts!

Garden Club Planting


Would you like to learn more about gardening? Join us for Garden Club Planting on May 22 at 5 p.m. Meant to spark interest in gardening, nutrition, and the environment, the club is a wonderful hands-on learning opportunity for all ages.
