Coming Up: Winter Programming at Holden

Winter and Spring registration opens TODAY, November 11! We’re excited to welcome you make your plans to visit Holden soon!


Plan your visit from January 5 to May 31 and enjoy a variety of seasonal programming. Whether you’re seeking the quiet, cozy, and contemplative atmosphere of winter, or ready to embrace the joyous return of spring, Holden has something to celebrate year-round. 


The calendar for the next six months is still taking shape. Some early highlights for the winter include two women’s retreats and Holy Week. Reservations for dates after 5/31/2026 will open at 10:00am PST on 1/2/2026


Plus, new in 2026, Holden will host a series of “Winter Weekends.” This is an opportunity to learn and connect with others during the winter! Once a month, a special faculty member will come and share their expertise in two to three teaching sessions. Topics include knitting, ceramics, and Indigenous food sovereignty. Consider inviting a few friends and sharing a long weekend together at Holden!

Dates have also been set for the regular events, including Spring Work Weeks (April 26 - May 10), May Youth Weekend (May 15-17), and Alumni Weekend (May 22-24). Registration for these special events is open today, November 11.

P.S. The Village is open for college students during J-Term (normally held in January) and May Term. Contact Maddie Pohl (education@holdenvillage.org) to arrange a class trip or learn more about group visits here.

Don’t delayspots to Celebrate the Holidays at Holden Village are filling up fast! 


Thanksgiving: November 26-30 (close to capacity) Enjoy a cozy Thanksgiving at Holden Village! A feast meal with all of the trimmings is the pinnacle of the celebration. Join in sacred space offerings grounded in gratitude and contemplation, a community art project, and an Indigenous poetry reflection and documentary screening. Other fun activities include our traditional Copper Bowl Football game with Villager-produced commercials, the Tatonka Trot, and game tournaments. Depending on the amount of snow in the Village, you may even be able to sled down Chalet Hill! Thanksgiving will include a special Wednesday transport to the Village. Saint Lucia's Day: December 13 (registration open) A celebration of light and Scandinavian heritage. The feast of Saint Lucia brings warmth to the darkest parts of the year. More information here!


Holiday Programming (close to capacity) A week of winter and Christmas celebrations, including a candlelight winter solstice walk and Christmas service and feast meal.


New Year’s: December 31 (fully booked) So sorry! We are full, but pease join us next year to usher in the New Year at Holden!

Indigenous Artist-In-Residence Program


This month, the Village welcomed Ni Mii Poo and Kamilpah artist Nellie McConville as the Indigenous Artist-in-Residence. McConville is a tribal artist living in Portland, Oregon, who utilizes beadwork to depict her family and cultural heritage.

Oktoberfest


What better way to celebrate Oktoberfest than with a pretzel-making extravaganza, a stein-holding competition, and a German spelling bee?

Halloween


A misty evening in the Village made for a spooky “Holdenween” celebration! Villagers enjoyed carving pumpkins, a “Thriller” flash mob at bus arrival, trick-or-treating, and an eerie haunted house in Chalet 11.
