Speaking of Children

Luncheon & Conference

April 22-23, 2025

Project Harmony is proud to announce Speaking of Children Luncheon & Conference 2025 Keynote Speaker, Elizabeth Smart. Her abduction was one of the most followed child abduction cases of our time. Elizabeth was abducted on June 5, 2002, and her captors controlled her by threatening to kill her and her family if she tried to escape. Fortunately, the police safely returned Elizabeth back to her family on March 12, 2003, after being held a prisoner for 9 grueling months. Through this traumatic experience, Elizabeth has become an advocate for change related to child abduction, recovery programs, and National legislation. Learn more about Elizabeth Smart and her journey to healing.

Speaking of Children Luncheon & Conference, with the mission of inspiring and educating the community in the fight against child abuse, is Project Harmony's signature event. This is a two-day conference and keynote luncheon in partnership with Boys Town, Children's Nebraska, Nebraska Alliance of Child Advocacy Centers and the US Attorney's Office - District of Nebraska.

Registration will be available in January. Training sessions will focus on Investigation, Treatment, Prevention & Early Intervention and Professional Wellness. Please note the Keynote Luncheon will be on day two, April 23, 2025.

Meet Steven Brabec:

Network Administrator

Explain your position at Project Harmony:

I manage and optimize the IT systems for Project Harmony, ensuring seamless operations and minimal technical disruptions for staff. Additionally, I collaborate with organizational departments to design and implement cloud-based solutions and automation strategies, enhancing efficiency and streamlining workflows across the organization.

What led you to work at Project Harmony?

My experience lies in environments where managing multiple priorities was the norm. With that experience, I was driven to find a role where I could leverage my ability to thrive under pressure while making a tangible impact on the organization as a whole, not just within my department.

Tell me about someone who has influenced your decision to work at Project Harmony or a mentor who has helped you most in your career thus far.

I have a former mentor who also works for a well-known non-profit. Hearing him talk about the feeling of going home knowing the work you are doing is for a great cause was the difference in my decision to come to Project Harmony.

How do you enjoy spending your time when you are not working?

When I am not working, you can find me spending time with my three children, watching Husker sports and unwinding with video games.

What is the one thing you are most proud of about your job?

Although I am newer to Project Harmony, I bring many years of experience from a variety of industries. I look forward to using what I've learned and utilize technology to help everyone at Project Harmony be successful at serving children and families.

At Project Harmony, we don’t just accept differences among people — we celebrate it, we support it and we thrive on it for the benefit of our employees, our clients and our community. Project Harmony is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.

If you are a talented, driven individual eager to help us build a safe and promising future for all children, Project Harmony may be a great fit for you.
