Catholicism in the 21st century: What should Catholics be doing in theology today to prepare for tomorrow?

A Presentation by Fr. Thomas Joseph White, OP, Rector of the Angelicum

Bishop Richard Henning cordially invites you to a conversation on the future of the Church with the Rector of his Roman alma mater, the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas - Angelicum. The presentation will last approximately 30 minutes, followed by an interactive question and answer session with Fr. Thomas Joseph White, OP.

Fr. Thomas Joseph White is a Dominican of the East Coast province and the Rector of the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome. He is a world-renowned theologian, having received from the Master of the Dominican Order the distinguished title of Master of Sacred Theology in 2023. He is the author of numerous popularly acclaimed works of theology, including The Light of Christ: An Introduction to Catholicism, The Trinity: On the Nature and Mystery of the Triune God, and The Incarnate Lord: A Thomistic Study in Christology.

The Angelicum is the pontifical university of the Dominican Order in Rome. The Angelicum grants ecclesial degrees to seminarians, priests, religious, and laypeople from over 100 countries, preparing them for ministry in the Church. About 20% of the 1,200 students are American, with 40% coming from the developing world. As one of the major pontifical universities in Rome at which American students receive their formation, the Angelicum plays an important role in shaping the American Church’s future leadership. It is also an important institution for the study of theology, forming future theologians and handing on the legacy of St. Thomas Aquinas. The Angelicum’s most distinguished alumnus is Pope Saint John Paul II, who completed his doctoral studies at the Angelicum in 1948.
