We are very pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Kahewai Summit, aimed at building a holistic approach to achieving wellness and resilience through trauma-informed care strategies for all providers who serve children ages 0-5. Taking place over 2-days, the Summit will engage attendees with opportunities to learn and refine wellness and resilience strategies to support their efforts within Hawai‘i’s early learning communities.
The theme of the 2nd annual Kahewai Summit is Hā (breath). One of the guiding principles of the Kahewai Summit is to cultivate and share wellbeing strategies, so that those who serve Hawaii’s keiki can emulate the skills and strategies necessary to effectively practice trauma-informed care within their own communities. By embracing hā through connection and self-regulation, we can work towards becoming more effective practitioners.
Summit tracks will focus on the following trauma-Informed care principles:
- Recognition that all children benefit from a trauma-informed approach
- Application of a strengths-based approach to teaching and caring
- Recognizing, appreciating and addressing differing influences on children’s experiences with trauma
- Embracing resilience as a goal for every child
- Approaching trauma through a culturally-informed approach
The Summit is intended for early childhood providers from the following sectors:
- Center-Based Care, Preschool and Early Learning Centers
- Family Child Interactive Learning
- Home Visiting
- Family Childcare
