Back on Track Institute - Opportunity Youth Reengagement
On October 13-14, Road Map Project and King County Employment and Education Resources convened nearly 70 practitioners from the region's Open Doors reengagement programs for a two-day professional learning opportunity, with support from the Raikes Foundation. The Back on Track Institute featured national experts from Jobs for the Future, as well as local experts including young people themselves.

Topics for the two days included creating a college and career-going culture in programs, high-quality instruction with off-track students, supporting career exploration and using data for continuous improvement. The overarching theme was that we must consider the diploma or GED to be the launch and not the destination for our youth. Program teams will receive ongoing coaching and support as they implement the program improvement ideas that emerged at the Institute.

The Road Map Project is a region-wide effort aimed at improving education to drive dramatic improvement in student achievement from cradle to college and career in South King County and South Seattle.

The Road Map Project is supported by the Community Center for Education Results (CCER), a nonprofit organization.
