Suanne Davis Roueche Faculty ScholarshipFaculty members at NISOD member colleges who would like to attend NISOD’s International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence, but lack the financial means to do so, are encouraged to apply. 

Student Essay Contest. Students describe in a 500-word (or less) essay a faculty member, staff member, or administrator who encouraged them to complete a course, finish a semester, or graduate from college and how that encouragement helped them reach their goal(s).

Student Graphic Design Contest. Students design the official Conference Program front cover for NISOD’s 2025 International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence.

NISOD Excellence Awards. NISOD members are invited to submit the names of men and women each year who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment and contribution to their students and colleagues. 

INNOVATION ABSTRACTS

In “The Power of Possibility: How Community Colleges Can Champion Success for English Language Learners,” Mercedes L. Wilson-Everett, Lead Supervising Professor, Houston Community College, highlights the common barriers found in higher education for English Language Learners (ELL) and shows how the efforts of the Continuing Education Languages Department at Houston Community College has empowered their ELL students to succeed in higher education.
