Update on the campaign to Save River Farm
Negotiations between the American Horticultural Society and NOVA Parks/NVCT have begun, but significant uncertainty remains in terms of hashing out the critical details. The AHS board remains deadlocked on many issues that must be addressed before an agreement can be reached, and the property remains on the market while discussions continue.
In hearing testimony from the local community regarding a strengthened Historic Overlay District for River Farm last week, the Fairfax Planning Commission passed the proposal back to their planning staff for further review before a possible vote. This means we have work to do to ensure that River Farm has the enhanced protections it needs from subdivision and development in the future.
