Saxony Pool Update

The disposition of the Saxony pool and amenity property is in the final stages of being completed and the removal of the pool will be the first priority. As various options were considered, it was felt that the only way to divest this property was a sale, but Saxony HOA would have to spend more than $20,000 to remove the pool, fence and other items in order for it eligible to be sold. SHOA does not have that kind of money and so a contact was signed with developer Brad Marshall with IDR Builders who would erect two single-family houses on the property. As of this writing he has assumed ownership of the property and will soon begin removing the pool..

Brad Marshall is very familiar with our community and once served as a Pflugerville councilman. He has also had experience in removing decommissioned pools. He has agreed to construct two homes that will mesh well with the surrounding Saxony properties and follow the SHOA Deed Restrictions. Not to long ago along he completed the rebuild of one Saxony property and the constructed an addition on one other property.

Since the attempt to reopen the pool in 2022 a number of new repair issues have developed on the property. The money that was raised that year during the fundraising program has been used for the ongoing upkeep of the property, for utility costs, and taxes. A small amount of money remains in the account which can be used for D & O insurance, the Saxony News and other projects in our community. For example, the pool property included a Saxony “welcome sign” which will disappear and there is discussion about placing a new sign somewhere along Elm Drive.

We have several items at the pool that are available for free to Saxony residents. These include: several picnic tables, a 44 inch backboard (still in the box) and an electric water pump. Contact saxonynews@gmail.com.

New Pflugerville Development

--Construction on Downtown East is underway, bringing new opportunities for residents to gather, connect and enjoy enhanced public spaces. The project, which began in December, includes a multigenerational recreation center designed for fitness, wellness and community activities. A new City Hall will provide modern amenities to better serve residents. The civic plaza will feature a stage, outdoor gathering spaces and nature-inspired play areas. The extension of Main Street will improve accessibility and further connect the growing community. The picture is an older view of design, so not sure if it is exactly accurate.

These additions will reshape downtown, creating a space for residents to enjoy for years to come. To see renderings and stay updated on the latest progress, visit pflugervilletx.gov/downtowneast.
