HealthWest staff say "Aloha" to summer

The Staff Support Committee celebrated the first official day of summer by encouraging staff to wear colorful shirts and distributing leis to staff.

Pride Spirit Week is in full swing at HealthWest. Don't forget about these upcoming spirit days:


Wednesday, June 28: HW Pride T-shirt Day

Staff is encouraged to wear their HW Pride shirts and meet the SAGA team in the grass on the west end of the MHC building at 2 PM for a group photo.


Thursday, June 29: I celebrate Pride Month Because ...

Share why you celebrate Pride with custom HW signs! Display them around your office or take pictures with them. Do you know what the colors on the LGBTQ+ Pride flag mean? Click here to learn more.


Friday, June 30: Rainbow Day

Staff is encouraged to wear their favorite color from the rainbow and create a full rainbow (ROYGBIV) with their teammates. Submit a picture of your “rainbow” and be entered for an opportunity to win a pizza party for your team! Submit your photo to C[email protected]. The winner will be announced next week.

Learn more about the science behind addiction, how substance use disorder affects the health of communities and individuals, treatment best practices, and regional trends in drug use and overdose during the 2023 Lakeshore Muskegon Community Opiate Task Force Summit.


Speakers will include;

  • Andy Foster: West Michigan Enforcement Team, Michigan State Police
  • Alex Elswick, Ph.D.: the University of Kentucky & Voices of Hope
  • James Twesten-O'Toole, MD: Addiction & Family Medicine, Trinity Health Medical Group Recovery Medicine West Michigan.


Continuing Education opportunities are available for Social Work and Substance Use Disorder Professionals (MCBAP). Certificates of attendance are available upon request following the completion of the event evaluation.

Save the Date

Join your colleagues across Muskegon County for the 5th Annual Muskegon County Employee Picnic from 11 am - 4 pm on Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Muskegon County Fairgrounds.


There will be games and activities for all ages, as well as raffles, music, a mermaid tug of war and more!

Latitude 43 Quick Updates

There have recently been a couple of updates to the Latitude 43 system. Please reach out to the Lat 43 team at [email protected] if you have any questions:


  • Provider Briefing Rebuild - The Provider Briefing has been minimized but still contains all of the same logic, which should allow staff to be more efficient in completing the document.
  • Document Conversions - Staff will now be able to find documents originally saved to Cx360. The documents have been converted and are now displayed in the Chart Documents portion of Latitude 43. If any of the conversions are inaccurate, please contact [email protected]

Holton families invited to Summer Park Days


Holton families are invited to join Summer Park Days this summer at the Timberline Estates Playground.


The event is open to everyone and will include a free family picnic and fun activities.

Caring For Children Who've Experienced Trauma

Thursdays (Starting July 13)

5:15-6:45 pm

Virtual Via Zoom

This 8-week group will help caregivers understand the types of trauma and the impact they have on brain development. We will discuss how to create emotional safety by teaching caregivers how to adjust their responses to the behaviors youth use to express their needs. The group will look at the power of positive connections and how critical the caregiver's own well-being is to the healing process.

Standing Together Against Trafficking Conference

Registration is now open for the inaugural Standing Together Against Trafficking conference. This inaugural event is an opportunity for anti-trafficking professionals, subject matter experts, and survivors to engage in dialogue, networking, and information sharing as we unite efforts to make Michigan a national leader in the anti-trafficking movement. The conference is hosted by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Human Trafficking Health Advisory Board and Division of Victim Service.
