Scan Your Badge

If your co-worker scans in and the security door is still open, making it easy for you to walk through, you still need to scan your badge too. In the long run, this will not only prevent unauthorized access, but it also supports other important security measures.

Here are the top reasons why you should always scan your badge:

  • Organizational compliance – It's important to meet the requirements and objectives for System and Organization Controls 1 (SOC 1) certification by restricting and managing physical access control to IMRF facilities and other critical areas.
  • Employee safety In emergency situations, accurate headcounts are crucial, and unaccounted individuals create safety hazards.
  • Tailgating chain reactions Once normalized, piggybacking behavior can spread throughout an organization, progressively weakening the security culture. This creates the greater likelihood that an unauthorized person gains access to sensitive data.

So please always scan your badge when entering secure areas. Thank you for helping us maintain a secure workplace by following this important policy.

Cybersecurity Training

All staff must complete the required quarterly cybersecurity training to learn about potential threats and how to respond effectively. This session will cover key topics, including how to identify and protect personally identifiable information, recognize phishing emails and the importance of locking your computer when unattended.

Tomorrow, you will receive an email from Wombat Security with a unique link to complete the training. The deadline to complete the training is Thursday, March 27.

Thank you for doing your part to keep IMRF secure. Read more about the training on COMPASS.

Special Board Meeting

IMRF's office move will take another step forward when the Board of Trustees holds a Special Board Meeting at 1 PM tomorrow at the Oak Brook office.

At the meeting, the Board will discuss and vote on the approval of a general contractor for 800 Commerce Drive in Oak Brook as well as contracts for mechanical, electrical and plumbing.

Last month, the Board approved the move to the new location, and staff are expected to transition there next year.
