Scarecrows Needed!
Build a scarecrow and donate it to the Plainfield Park District to be displayed in three of our popular fall events. Anyone or any group can participate. This is a DIY project. Materials are not provided. To be displayed in all three events, scarecrows must be completed and delivered by September 18 to the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center.

Rockin' the Green
Plainfield’s very own School of Rock performs starting at 5 p.m., September 3 at the final Cruise to Village Green. The Park District also will be on hand under the pavilion with FREE blow-up guitars for the first 50 kids. This event was rescheduled from August 27 due to extreme weather conditions.

Van Horn Woods Grand Re-opening
Join Plainfield Park District staff and commissioners as a ribbon-cutting will be held on the east side of Van Horn Woods (accessible via Frontage Road between Route 30 and Caton Farm) at 5 p.m., September 6.
Project elements included:
- Replacement of the playground at Van Horn Woods East (special inclusive focus for children on the Autism spectrum)
- Fishing pier improvements
- 9 Hole DiscGolf Course
- Shoreline restoration
- Fitness pods
- Permanent fixtures at the bike park
- Pollinator garden
- Expanded trails throughout

Pet Rescue Rally
Enjoy a paw-some day of pet friendly activities, and maybe meet your new best friend 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., September 7 at Clow Stephens Park! In partnership with the Plainfield Area Public Library and the Office of Illinois State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel, we’re bringing you plenty of fun, food, freebies and fur. No registration is necessary for this FREE event.

FREE Trial Fitness Week
Try out a variety of fitness classes for FREE September 9-14! If you find the class that’s right for you, register and join us weekly. All classes are at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center. For ages 16+. Registration required. FREE classes offered include:
- Strength & Cardio for Active Adults, 5:45-6:45PM, September 9
- 20/20/20, 6-7PM, September 10
- Kickboxing, 6-6:45PM, September 11
- Strength & Cardio for Active Adults, 9-10AM, September 14

Community Day of Play
Enjoy an abundance of outdoor activities, games, inflatables, music and more at the Third Annual Community Day of Play held in partnership with the Village of Romeoville Parks & Recreation Department from 4 to 6 p.m., September 10 at Rotary Park, 2023 Whitmore Drive, in Romeoville. No registration is necessary for this FREE event.

Fall Taekwondo
Registration is OPEN for KH Kim Taekwondo, running Saturday mornings at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center. Classes for ages 4 through adult begin August 31 and run through December 14. Taekwondo offers a variety of benefits including concentration, self-esteem, physical fitness and self-defense.

Enchanted Ball
Princes and princesses, dress up and join us for a magical evening of dancing, mystical games and exquisite treats 6 to 8 p.m., September 13 at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center. Featured entertainer varies annually.

Traveling StoryWalk
The final StoryWalk event of the season is set for 6 to 8 p.m., September 18 at Caton Ridge Park, at the corner of Meadowridge and Park Ridge in the Caton Ridge subdivision. Join the Joliet Public Library for, "Creepy Carrots" by Aaron Reynolds with a craft and frozen treat provided by the Park District. This is a FREE event. No registration is necessary.

Inaugural Foundation Bags Tourney
Teams of two compete in a round-robin format followed by single or double-elimination tournament for a great cause. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Plainfield Park District Foundation, which provides scholarships for residents to participate in Park District programs. Fee of $45/team includes unlimited pizza and refreshments. Adult beverages are available on site for purchase. Tourney starts at 10:30 a.m., September 21 at Eaton Preserve (prior to Autumn Family Fun Fest). Sponsored by Busey Bank.

Autumn Family Fun Fest
