Jolting January
As we live out, remember, honor and celebrate the life & legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. today, the current events of this month....2 weeks into 2023 have been jolting, which is why we've titled our newsletter, "Jolting January." The very recent life threatening injury of Buffalo Bills Football Player, Damar Hamlin, the recent death of Iconic Journalist, Barbara Walters at 93 and all the life threatening weather across the country from Buffalo, NY to multiple areas in California. The number of lives lost as a result of weather is beyond jolting. Whether you're young or old, living the dream or not, the fact that life is fleeting is a constant reminder. I'm very happy this day we can reflect, honor & celebrate one man's dream, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., that is perpetually manifesting decades after his death. The POWER of a dream is evident today by the lives we live as a result of one man's dream.
Although is was jolting to hear of the death of Iconic Journalist, Barbara Walters at 93, it was equally inspiring to see & know the number of women she empowered as a result of her dream as a Journalist. She fought for women to have equal opportunities to be seen and heard in all aspects of Journalism. "The View" is part of her legacy and evident of how she intently empowered other women, BEAUUUUUUUUUTIFUL! As the year progresses, we're happy to know Damar Hamlin' health is improving and believing for a full recovery for this young man to resume his dream as an NFL player....or maybe a new dream.

As we reflect on the life & legacy of Dr. King today, I'm sooooooo very THANKFUL that he dreamed not only for himself and his family, he dreamed for me. Equally thankful that he dreamed BIG, his dream started with fighting for the rights & opportunities for Black people, but ultimately fought for humanity. In every aspect of our lives we are the benefactors of Dr. King's Dream whether your are black, white, hispanic, asian, indian, etc. It's mind blowing to think of a man from the age of 26 to think the way he thought and to live for what he lived for is BEYOND AMAZING and more than worthy of a day reflecting on, honoring, celebrating his life & legacy.
Thank you Dr. King for dreaming with me in mind, now rest in Eternal Peace. !

Remembering Barbara Walter,
an Iconic Journalist
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Barbara Walters is "The View." Next thing I think of is the word "First" and last "Powerful."
All the ladies of "The View" are her part of legacy of wanting women of multiple backgrounds & races to be seen and heard on television. First, because she was one of the first women to fight for the rights of women to be seen and heard on television, having fought for her right to be seen and heard on a variety of news programs over the decades. Last, "Powerful" because in speaking up and speaking out and making changes for women in the field of Journalism, she gained lots of power. The most powerful evidence of her impact, influence and power was when she retired from "The View." A VERY LONG LINE of Journalist we know stood in line as Oprah Winfrey called out their names in honor of Barbara Walters, that was POWERFUL & BEAUTIFUL. Women who we've seen over the decades on morning and nightly news shows whose name we're all familiar with, to know she impacted and influenced all of those women was POWERFUL!
Thank you Barbara Walters for dreaming and being used as an instrument for the progression of women in Journalism & Television, you were a "Blueprint" whose "Footprints" will live on forever in Journalism & Television, now Rest in Eternal Peace....
