Preregistration is now open for our
14th Annual Walk for the Woods
at the beautiful Bacon Ridge Natural Area.
Preregistration is not required to attend this FREE event. However, it is recommended to save you time with the release form upon arrival and to secure your spot on popular hikes.
We hope you can join us for a wonderful, relaxing day of enjoying our local woods! As in years past, we will have a variety of guided hikes, including bird watching, amphibian searches, and naturalist hikes scheduled throughout the day.

30 Days for 30 Years: Protecting Land and Water in Anne Arundel County

This year, Scenic Rivers Land Trust is celebrating 30 years of protecting land and water in Anne Arundel County.
To kick off our
30
th
year
celebration, we’re using the
30 days
of the month of April (Earth Month!) to share
30 fun facts
about our work and the Bacon Ridge Natural Area, the largest property in our conservation portfolio and the host site for our annual Walk for the Woods, via our social media channels.

Scenic Rivers Awarded Grants Totaling More than $11,000
|
|
Scenic Rivers Land Trust was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from the
Mars Foundation
, which awards grants to nonprofits working in the areas of wildlife, arts and culture, community engagement, education, environment, health and human services, and historic preservation. Funds from this grant will be used toward our landowner outreach efforts.
We are also excited to announce that Scenic Rivers is the recipient of a 2019 Janice Hollmann Grant through the Maryland Department of Natural Resource's
Keep Maryland Beautiful Grant Program
.
The grant, totaling $6,123, will be
used to increase outreach capacity; continue to conduct annual conservation easement monitoring in compliance with Land Trust Alliance Standards and Practices; and advance our outreach to landowners and key tax, legal, and real estate professionals.

Forever Protected: 111 acres on the Little Patuxent River
|
|
Scenic Rivers' Executive Director, Rick Leader, and Board President, Nina Fisher, recently met with landowner Linda Egolf to spend a sunny afternoon walking her beautiful property, now permanently protected by a conservation easement co-held by Scenic Rivers and Maryland Environmental Trust. They also took the opportunity to hang several "Forever Protected" signs in key locations.
