During these chaotic times, we have been fortunate enough to be able to empower our people to deliver excellence even in the face of COVID-19.

The Schauer team is working remotely from home to serve our clients, for the sake of health and safety for all. To that end, and with the desire to bring a little bit of levity to our lives, we've asked our associates to share their best  S chauer quarantine  photos and stories. As you scroll through this special edition newsletter, you'll get to know our team a little better as they make the best of it from their new home offices. Plus, you will discover that serving clients isn't the only thing we've been focused on during these past weeks at home—the entire Schauer Group team has been busy serving the community with a slate of special quarantine charitable projects.

As always, we'd like to thank you for your partnership now and into the future. If I can be of any assistance, do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Sincerely,
David T. Schauer,
President
First up, we're highlighting  M ATTHEW JOHNSON , associate vice president, information technologies. Not only has he been working remotely, but he's dedicated himself to charitable pursuits by producing 3D printed face shields for our local medical professionals. He has already donated 300 shields to  Aultman Hospital
Quarantine Habitats & Family Fun
Our team is working remotely and having fun showing off their  #quarantinehabitat . Plus, s ome of our associates have attentive new colleagues and coworkers.
It's not all work and no play for  BRANDYN NEAL (pictured above) , client executive, check out the pool hall vibe in his new home office! Brandyn says the best part about working from home is the ability to start prepping dinner early. He has more time to experiment and make more elaborate meals.

Meet  JENNIFER SCHLICHTING, CISR-E (pictured above) , senior client manager, and her co-worker, Corwin, a 2.5 year old Corgi. Although Jenny misses the daily human interaction with her fellow teammates at Schauer, she likes taking Corwin on lunchtime walks and rewarding him with ice cubes.

Jenny's  #quarantinehabitat
includes a desk, monitors and computer that she set-up in the living room of her apartment.

While we at Schauer Group work from home to keep our associates, families and clients safe, we've asked our team members to share candid adventures with their new "coworkers." Here, ASHLEE SMITH (pictured above) , client technician, shows us the family fun she is having with her two kiddos and husband. Although they have been busy with school, they took a break to build a monster fort in their basement and even slept in it.

Like the vast majority of our Schauer associates, SUSAN WEBB (pictured above) , senior client manager in our Personal Insurance department, is working remotely in her new  #quarantinehabitat . She calls her space cozy, with candles lit throughout the day. She misses seeing everyone in the office, but loves spending time with her dog, Ruby.
Next, we feature vice president,  TIM HUDEC (pictured above) participating in a team video chat from his new  #quarantinehabitat . We asked Tim to give us a peek into working from home and he had this to say:

Q: What do you like best about working from home?

A: Achieving efficient work/life balance is much easier as I am now able to see my wife and kids throughout the day, but also stay busy tending to client needs.

Q: What do you miss most about going into the office?

A: Face-to-face interaction with the associates and our clients talking about work, personal life, current events, etc.

Meet  DIANE SCHULTZ (pictured above) , vice president, risk management, and her co-worker, Nica, aka "The Little Rascal." Diane, a 30-year industry veteran, misses her in-office co-workers and the quick conversations regarding client issues. She is making the most of the situation with regular client and underwriter phone calls. And, like many of us, she is enjoying birdwatching the woodpeckers, red breasted grosbeaks, Baltimore orioles, gold finches, etc.

Meet SUSAN SOKOL (pictured above) , senior client manager, and her precious pooch, Daisy Mae. Susan shared more about he r quarantine habitat  in the following Q&A:

Q: What do you like best about working from home?

A: I like being able to spend time with my dog Daisy. She is very respectful of me when I am at the computer working. She mostly sleeps, but occasionally barks at a squirrel outside. She loves me being at home and is very spoiled! I also enjoy sleeping a little longer. I feel like I have adjusted well to working from home.

Q: What do you miss most about going into the office?

A: I miss most the interaction and the bonding with fellow employees. The support I get from everyone is something I miss. Talking out problems and sharing how to solve them is missed. Although Slack and email has helped with that.

Our associates are hard at work supporting our operations every day! In their down time, many are also volunteering their time to support local organizations in need. Our Schauer Group associates, including the next generation, have been hard at work painting bird houses for the residents of our client partner, Bethany Nursing Home .
