SCHAUMBURG CELEBRATES MEMBER RE-ELECTIONS & VILLAGE CLERK TRANSITIONS
Congratulations to Village President Tom Dailly and Trustees Brian Bieschke, George Dunham, and Mark Madej who were all sworn in at the April 25 Village Board meeting to serve another four years on the Village Board following their successful re-election this spring. President Dailly was elected Village President in 2019, after serving as trustee from 1988-2009 and again from 2014-2019. Bieschke has served as trustee since 2019; Dunham since 1991; and Madej since 2005.

Village Board members also took time to recognize the efforts of Village Clerk Marilyn Karr who is celebrating her retirement after nearly 33 years of service with the Prairie Center for the Arts and Village of Schaumburg. Karr was a member of the Advisory Council for the Prairie Center Arts Foundation for seven years and will continue to serve on the village's Cultural Commission. Appointed as village clerk in November 2004, she held the position for more than 18 years, until April 2023. The village thanks Karr for her many years of service to the people of Schaumburg and wishes her well in her retirement.

One of Karr’s last duties as clerk was swearing in her replacement – newly elected Village Clerk Jane Lentino. Lentino has been a public service employee in Schaumburg and Carol Stream. She enjoys public service and looks forward to serving her community in a more active way. Lentino also enjoys interacting with people and learning about different cultures. Read more on Village Clerk Jane Lentino in the upcoming edition of the published Summer Cracker Barrel which will hit mailboxes in mid-May.

VILLAGE HOSTS TAKE YOUR CHILD TO WORK DAY
The Village of Schaumburg welcomed children of village employees on April 27 as part of Take Your Child to Work Day. Village Manager Brian Townsend welcomed the group to the village, which included more than 20 children and their parents. Participants learned about the role local government plays in the community and took tours through various department facilities to learn more about operations and services provided by the Village of Schaumburg. Not only did the day allow children to learn more about what their parents do for a living and other critical services provided by local government, but it also served as a great way to promote careers in public service to future generations.

Celebrate Small Business Week in Schaumburg April 30 - May 6
The Village of Schaumburg is celebrating National Small Business Week April 30 through May 6. The week recognizes the important contributions of entrepreneurs and small business owners in our community. Although online shopping is convenient, supporting small businesses in Schaumburg keeps money in our community to support public schools, parks, roads, public service workers, and so much more. Other ways you can support small businesses include writing a positive review, referring others to their services, or sharing a post on social media. Throughout the week, the village will be featuring small businesses on its Facebook page.
