SCHAUMBURG PARTICIPATES IN HOTEL SUMMIT 2022
|
On Aug. 9, the village's Economic Development Director Matt Frank presented at the Meet Chicago Northwest’s Hotel Summit held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Chicago-Arlington Heights. Over 50 hotel sales directors and general managers were in attendance to learn about the latest developments in the northwest suburbs. Schaumburg continues to see new development and growth with Ally Financial, Northwest Community Healthcare, DULY, Primark and Tony’s Fresh Market - all expected to open soon. These developments will add demand and amenities for Schaumburg’s hotels.
The leisure market has picked up significantly with weddings, vacations and other activities helping to boost the average daily rates and occupancy levels of hotels. The corporate market is starting to come back with business meetings and events. The hotel market is anticipated to fully recover by 2024.

ACOUSTIC MONITORING AND ASSESSMENT TO BEGIN
|
In a continuing effort to minimize water loss in the village, the Village Board approved a pilot program where a company will place acoustical sensors on water system assets and monitor associated software that uses artificial intelligence to aid in leak identification. If a leak is detected, the company will coordinate with the village’s Engineering & Public Works Department to mobilize a ground team to pinpoint and repair the leak.
The program will be implemented in a chosen pilot area located in an older residential section of the village that has experienced a higher density of water main breaks. Sensor installation is expected in fall 2022 and will continuously collect information through spring 2023.
This is one component of a larger water loss reduction program that aims to reduce water loss from the village’s infrastructure. The village recently approved an agreement to begin a leak detection program of its water mains using satellite imagery with the intent of proactively finding and repairing water leaks before more serious issues arise. Water leaked from aging infrastructure can damage pavement and cost the village money in lost revenues.
For more information on this program, dial 311 in the village or call (847) 895-4500.
