PHASE II OF HEALTH SERVICES NEEDS ASSESSMENT

In 2024, the Village of Schaumburg successfully completed Phase I of its Health Services Needs Assessment (HSNA). This phase focused on understanding the community's health needs and evaluating existing services and infrastructure. Resources and methodology from Phase I can be found on the village’s website.

In April 2024, the Village Board directed staff to initiate Phase II of the HSNA. This phase involves the creation of a Comprehensive Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), which will detail actionable items to enhance health services in Schaumburg and address service gaps identified in Phase I. The plan will also identify partner agencies to assist in achieving these priorities.

Community input is crucial for this phase, and as a result, the village is seeking resident feedback on health priorities through the village’s engagement platform, Engage Schaumburg. Visit the website to complete the survey and contribute to the improvement plan. For questions, contact Andrew Buckwinkler or dial 311 in Schaumburg.

CELEBRATING NATIONAL FARMERS MARKET WEEK

At the July 23 Village Board meeting, Village President Tom Dailly proclaimed Aug. 4-10 as National Farmers Market Week in Schaumburg. Farmers Markets play a key role in developing local and regional food systems that support the sustainability of family farms and help meet consumer demands for a variety of fresh, affordable and healthful products. Shopping your local market also helps keep your dollars in the community and benefits small growers and food producers.

To celebrate National Farmers Market Week, the Aug. 9 Schaumburg Farmers Market will feature food focused art activities and programming including veggie printmaking with local art teacher Adelite, the Schaumburg Library, Schaumburg Township Historical Society and Schaumburg Township. Patrons can also pick up a Village of Schaumburg canvas tote, while supplies last.

You can shop the Schaumburg Farmers Market between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. every Friday in Town Square. As a friendly reminder, pets, scooters, skateboards, roller skates, and bicycles are not permitted in the market. For more information on Schaumburg's Farmers Market, visit the website.

WATER TOWER IMPROVEMENTS BEGIN

Work has recently started on improvements to the elevated water tank located at 1485 S. Rodenburg Rd. The project has various stages that will take months to complete. Upgrades include a mixer inside the bowl of the tank, which will help the Village of Schaumburg continue to provide high-quality water. Most of the work is currently being done inside the tank. This includes adding a new doorway, upgrading the piping, and replacing many essential parts.

The hangers for a curtain have been installed on the outside of the tank, and in the coming weeks, the curtain will go up to help contain debris and water within the project area. The tank will be sandblasted to remove all the paint and then primer will be added to protect the metal. Once the sandblasting and primer coat are complete, the tank will be painted white, and a new logo will be installed. For more information on this capital improvement project, dial 311 in the village.

FINAL CHANCE TO SEE ALL SHOOK UP PERFORMANCES

Schaumburg Summer Theatre’s production of All Shook Up runs for its final weekend August 2-4 at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts.

Featuring the talents of high school and college students, Schaumburg Summer Theatre’s 34th annual production follows a small Midwestern town that is thrown into a frenzy with the arrival of Chad, a good-looking, motorcycle-riding roustabout, who rides from town to town with a guitar on his back, blue suede shoes on his feet, and a song in his heart.

Loosely based on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, All Shook Up features dynamic arrangements of 25 timeless Elvis Presley hits, including "Heartbreak Hotel," "Hound Dog," "Jailhouse Rock," "Don't be Cruel," and more.

Performances of All Shook Up will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4. For more information and to purchase tickets ($28 / $24 seniors and students), visit the website or call (847) 895-3600.

Pedestrians are reminded to use designated crosswalks and obey pedestrian signals.

This new name allows the business to offer its customers the same great service along with expanding its inventory to include other top brands like HOKA, Brooks, Asics, OluKai and more. The store will still carry the largest selection of widths in the state of Illinois and have the same staff and ownership who will walk their clients through a fitting process tailored only for them. For more information, visit the website.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATES

National Parkway Reconstruction

The project is nearing completion as crews continue final grading, landscaping and electrical work into the upcoming week. Although the sidewalks are poured and the roadway is paved, please stay safe and refrain from entering the jobsite until it is officially opened to the public.

For more information on the village's construction projects, view the Construction Dashboard.

Rodenburg Road Reconstruction & Resurfacing

Timberleaf Circle resident and delivery traffic has been moved onto a short section of the new roadway while the Timberleaf Circle South pavement is replaced. Once the new concrete island is installed and the asphalt is replaced, the drives will be open to traffic. Timberleaf Circle South will be a right-in/right-out access point. No left turns will be allowed from Timberleaf Circle South toward Travis Parkway or Central Avenue. Expect to see topsoil installation along the edges of the roadway and the slopes during the next week. Some temporary landscaping will be completed after the topsoil is placed and graded. Expect permanent landscaping in September and October.

The roadway will remain closed to traffic until the pedestrian path is paved, concrete sidewalk is installed, landscape is complete, and the roadway lighting system is installed. It is expected to reopen in the fall.

For more information and to sign up for project updates, visit the project website.
