PARTICIPATE IN FALL CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY
|
The fall session of the Schaumburg Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy (CPA) begins Wednesday, Sept. 14. The CPA provides the opportunity for members of the community to meet and interact with members of the Schaumburg Police Department on a personal level.
Typically, two sessions are held each year – one in the spring and one in the fall. Each CPA session meets once a week for 10 weeks with classes held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evenings. Participants must attend 75 percent of the
sessions to be eligible for graduation and to join the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association of Schaumburg. Schaumburg residents and employees of Schaumburg businesses, ages 18 and older, are eligible to participate.
Interactive sessions offer an inside look at how the police department functions. Highlights
include a patrol ride-along with an on-duty officer, conducting a mock traffic stop, and the
opportunity to ask questions of police personnel. To participate, please complete and submit
the online application on the village’s website. For questions, contact Paula Diaz or dial 311 in Schaumburg.

SCHAUMBURG CELEBRATES NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
|
Schaumburg's 2022 National Night Out event held on Aug. 2 was a great success. The village had a total of 20 registered parties, including a community-wide event at Meineke Park and one at the senior center inside the Schaumburg Barn.
Did you know that according to the village's 2021 National Community Survey, respondents indicated that 96 percent feel safe in their neighborhoods and 87 percent rated their overall feelings of safety as excellent or good, which is in line with national benchmarks? The village is proud of its professional public safety departments that provide such a high level of service to the community.
Our elected officials, police and fire personnel, and public safety volunteers enjoyed the evening spent among friends and neighbors – we thank you for your participation and for your support for a safe Schaumburg. We hope you will join the celebration next year on the first Tuesday in August!

COOK COUNTY RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY TAX APPEALS
|
Residents can appeal their Cook County property taxes at the Township of Schaumburg now through Aug. 25. The Township is open during the appeals period to assist residents from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Township has developed two appointment options for residents to complete appeals virtually or in-person:
-
Email Victor Morales your home pin number, phone number, email and home address. If the home was purchased after January 1, 2019, please email the sales price as well. This is the fastest and most convenient way - no visit to the office is required. Emails must be received at least one hour before closing on the last day of appeals.
-
Walk-in appointments are also available but emailing your appeal information is strongly encouraged. You’ll need to bring your pin number, phone number, email and home address. A sales price of the home will be required if the home was purchased after January 1, 2019.
The Township can assist with residential property tax appeals for townhomes and single-family homes, but cannot process condo, apartment or commercial property appeals. Condo and apartment residents should work with their respective association representative. For more information, visit the Township's website or call the Township of Schaumburg Assessor’s Office at (847) 285-4567.
