Recently, the Engineering and Public Works Department received a late-night phone call for rising water in a sanitary pipe of a resident's home. Because sewer backups are a health hazard, it is extremely important for crews to make attending to the backup a top priority. Steve Hedquist and Robert Dillon of the customer service division were quickly on the scene and assured the residents they would keep working until their sanitary line was open and clean, even if that meant working past the end of their shift. After the sanitary line was clear, Ulises Rangel of the sewer division returned the following day to answer questions and provide information on preventative measures. Rangel said, "The sanitary department always does our best to make sure residents are taken care of." The resident was pleased the issue was taken care of right away and that Steve, Robert, and Ulises were there to help!

If a sewer backup occurs, the first telephone call made should be to the Engineering & Public Works Department at (847) 923-6612 or by dialing 311 in Schaumburg. For more information on what to do when experiencing a sewer backup, visit the village's website.
