RESIDENTIAL REBATE UPDATE
At the Jan. 10 Village Board meeting, Schaumburg trustees approved an initiative to provide a one-time $150 residential rebate payment to owner-occupied households to assist residents impacted by the pandemic and with ongoing inflation.
Since that time, village staff researched various methods to determine the most efficient and effective means of making payment to approximately 19,500 households. After discussion at the Feb. 21 Committee of the Whole meeting, Village Board members agreed that issuing a $150 Visa gift card as payment is the best option to administer the program. Residents will have the ability to use their Visa gift card anywhere Visa is accepted and cards will expire after 12 months. If possible, residents are encouraged to use these funds locally to continue supporting Schaumburg as ‘The Place for Business.’
The matter is anticipated to receive official approval at the Feb. 28 Village Board meeting. Payments are expected to be made in the coming months.

SCHAUMBURG RECEIVES ACEC ILLINOIS ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE HONOR AWARD
The Village of Schaumburg is pleased to be the recipient of the Honor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Illinois for its pavement assessment and management program. The Honor Award is the highest level of achievement granted by ACEC and recognizes projects with exceptional engineering benefiting the public welfare. The village was recognized at the 2023 Annual Engineering Excellence Awards Gala on Feb. 16.
The village's pavement assessment and management program has dedicated $8 million in street repairs, including reconstruction, resurfacing, and preventative maintenance, for fiscal year 2023/24. The continued implementation of the village’s pavement management plan continues to extend the useful life expectancy of our roadways and reduces the operating impacts to the village's inhouse staffing. Garbage and Recycling Cart Storage Reminders
Are you storing your garbage and recycling carts properly? Residents have the option of storing their carts/containers in three different ways: inside the garage, behind the home, or next to the home with approved screening. If containers will be stored next to the home with screening, the village provides several ways in which residents can screen their carts, including using a semi-open fence or lattice partition, wing-wall or landscaping. As a reminder, garbage, recycling and landscape waste may be placed curbside the day prior after 4 p.m. through March 31 and no later than 7 a.m. the day of collection. Cart handles should be facing the property with the lid opening toward the street. For more information, please view the brochure on the village’s garbage and recycling brochure.
