Schaumburg's Teen Center, also known as The Club, is reopening on Monday, Feb. 6 after work began in October 2022 to freshen up and modernize the space. The Club is located on the lower level of The Barn at 231 S. Civic Dr. Some of the enhancements include new furniture, versatile gathering areas, touchless water bottle filling stations, and new technology, including a 3D printer. The total cost of the project was budgeted at approximately $300,000 with a portion of the project paid through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. The Club is run by the Boys & Girls Club of Elgin and is open to junior high and high school students, ages 12-19 after completion of an application with a parent/guardian's signature. The Club is free and holds programs that encourage academic success, being responsible and caring citizens, developing leadership skills, and living healthy lifestyles.
