SPRING CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY CLASS BEGINS MARCH 9
The Citizen Police Academy (CPA) has proven to be a very popular program within the Schaumburg Police Department's community policing efforts. The class provides residents and members of the business community the opportunity to meet and interact on a personal level with many members of the police department. Participants will learn about several law enforcement topics including patrol, investigations, support services and training. The experience is not solely limited to classroom lectures.

The CPA is held twice a year, during the spring and fall. Each CPA session runs for 10 weeks with classes held on Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Participants must attend 75 percent of the sessions to be eligible to graduate and join the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association of Schaumburg.

To enroll, simply submit the online application and attach a copy of your Driver's License or State ID. For additional information, email Paula Diaz or dial 311 in Schaumburg.

CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY MONTH
February is Black History Month, an annual observance that recognizes the contributions and sacrifices African Americans have made to this country. We hope that you will take a moment to celebrate the accomplishments of Black Americans who have helped shape and strengthen our nation and community.

One of the ways Schaumburg recognizes this important month is with original Black History Programming that celebrates diversity and achievements. “Lorraine,” presented by B-Side Studios, will be coming to the village’s Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Ct., at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26. The production takes place amid the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and is a story about a young interracial couple who faces disapproval from their parents. For tickets and more information, visit the Prairie Center’s website or call the box office at (847) 895-3600.
