HAPPY 2025, SCHAUMBURG!

Another holiday season has gone by and as we welcome in the new year, I’d like to recognize some of the village’s accomplishments of 2024. Last year was full of growth and development in Schaumburg, and I am overwhelmed with pride for the community that made it possible. The list below is just the beginning of all the achievements the Village of Schaumburg reached in 2024; be sure to check out more of our highlights on the village’s website.

  • The village maintained the village’s property tax levy at the same amount that was levied in 2023. Since 2009, the village has had a property tax levy that has been reduced or maintained every year.
  • The Schaumburg Fire Department was awarded the Insurance Services Office Class 1 Public Protection Classification rating, the highest that can be achieved. This classification demonstrates the department’s ability to provide the best in emergency response and community risk reduction.
  • After several months of construction, both the National Parkway roundabout and the collaborative project at Rodenburg Road have been completed, while designs for the Braintree and Weathersfield roundabout are underway.
  • The village celebrated two major groundbreakings: Lurie Children’s Hospital’s $60 million, 75,000 square foot state-of-the-art outpatient center and Andretti Indoor Karting & Games, which kicks off Phase 1 of the Entertainment District at 90 North. Both are currently under construction.
  • The Village Board created a new Tax Increment Financing District for the industrial park south of Wise Road. This approval is the first step in redeveloping this area as a vibrant commercial and industrial district in Schaumburg.
  • Phase I of the Health Service Needs Assessment was completed. The village identified community strengths, social determinants of healthy residents, and health and social service capacity and opportunities for improvement. Phase II was initiated by the Village Board in April and is creating an actionable Comprehensive Health Improvement Plan.
  • Designs are underway to construct a new Village Hall and a new police station. The village purchased the property at 1000 Woodfield Rd. that will serve as a temporary Village Hall beginning in spring 2025. The Woodfield Road site will eventually serve as the location of the new police station.
  • Schaumburg welcomed many new businesses to our community this year, including Dave & Buster’s, Wheels, Joong Boo Market, Steinhafels, Primark, Patrick Genesis of Schaumburg, and many others that help make the village a wonderful place to live and visit.
  • The National Community Survey was conducted to assess the overall quality of life of residents and gather insights on areas of improvement. This comprehensive study is conducted every three years and helps guide decision-making and budget planning. Look for information on the findings of the study in February 2025.

The work most certainly won’t stop there as we have a new year of growth and positive community enhancements ahead of us. Exciting projects to keep an eye out on include:

  • Well-known Brazilian steakhouse, Fogo de Chão, is under construction at 1950 E. Golf Rd. The $1.2 million investment is anticipated to open in the spring.
  • This spring the beloved Asian grocery store, H-MART, is relocating from 34 E. Golf Rd. to the larger location of the former Kohl’s on Golf Road.
  • Experior Transport will be bringing its transportation fleet to the village this spring, residing at 1001 W. Irving Park Rd.
  • Blufish Sushi Bistro, known for its traditional yet modern Japanese cuisine, is opening in the spring, just across the street from Costco.
  • Lurie Children’s Hospital’s three-story outpatient center, located at 1895 Arbor Glen Blvd., is anticipated to open this August, bringing high-quality medical care to the community and the northwest suburbs.
  • HopScotch, a British-style pub, is anticipated to open this summer near Oberweis Dairy in Schaumburg’s Town Square.
  • Napleton Subaru will be the newest auto dealership in Schaumburg, with an anticipated opening at the end of the year.

I am so proud of our accomplishments from 2024, and I am looking forward to another year of creating lasting impact in the Village of Schaumburg. I thank our dedicated Village Board, staff, advisory committees and volunteers who continue to make Schaumburg an outstanding community.

Sincerely,

Tom Dailly
