PRESIDENT DAILLY ANNOUNCES TRUSTEE NOMINATION

Schaumburg Village President Tom Dailly has selected Electrical Commission Chairperson and Zoning Board of Appeals member Michael LaRosa to serve as village trustee and fill a vacancy created by the Dec. 31 retirement of longtime village trustee George Dunham.

Under state law, President Dailly has up to 60 days to present someone to the Village Board for appointment to fill the remaining term of a retiring board member. The remaining board then has 30 days to either approve or decline the appointment. The Village Board expects to consider the appointment at the Jan. 28 Village Board meeting.

“I am pleased to select Michael LaRosa for the role of village trustee,” said Dailly. “Mike is a longtime resident of Schaumburg who has demonstrated a commitment to remaining involved in the community by serving on appointed committees as well as his regular presence at village meetings and events. I believe his dedication to stay informed and his eagerness to play a larger role in shaping the future of Schaumburg makes him a welcome addition to our Village Board.”

LaRosa has served on the village’s Electrical Commission since 2012 and has been Chairperson for the past four years. LaRosa has also served as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals since 2020 and has previously held roles on the Plan Commission and the Olde Schaumburg Centre Commission.

“I consider it an honor to be selected by Mayor Dailly and the Village Board to become Schaumburg’s next village trustee,” LaRosa said. “I have enjoyed my time serving the community through various roles and functions, and I am excited to take on this new opportunity as a member of the Village Board to learn more about how I can further contribute to Schaumburg’s success.”

LaRosa and his family have lived in Schaumburg for 28 years. He has enjoyed coaching baseball and basketball for 16 years with the Schaumburg Athletic Association and has performed volunteer work for the Schaumburg Firefighters Association Softball Tournament.

LaRosa is employed by Jamerson and Bauwens Electrical Contractors, Inc., as an electrical general foreman. LaRosa has more than 37 years overall experience in his field and has held numerous roles including apprentice, foreman, general foreman and superintendent for a variety of projects. He attended Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills and completed the 5-year apprenticeship program through IBEW 134 Technical Institute in Alsip.

His term as village trustee expires May 2027. For more information about Schaumburg’s Village Board, visit the village's website.

COOK COUNTY FACILITY RELOCATION

The Cook County Maintenance Facility for District 1, at 2325 Meacham Rd., has been a target for redevelopment for many years. Currently located in unincorporated Cook County, the Village Board and Cook County have agreed to terms to relocate the facility to 2222 Hammond Dr.

The Village of Schaumburg has acquired the new property and is working with the current owner at 2222 Hammond Dr. to relocate their business. Once the existing building is demolished, work will begin for the new Cook County Highway Maintenance Facility.

Cook County will provide the former facility property, 2325 Meacham Rd., to the Village of Schaumburg after they have completed construction on the new site. Once Schaumburg has control of the 2325 Meacham Rd. site, the property will be annexed into the village and incorporated into the North Schaumburg TIF District. Future redevelopment at 2325 Meacham Rd. will enhance the North Schaumburg area and provide additional amenities at Algonquin and Meacham roads. For more information, email Matt Frank or dial 311 in the village.
