SCHAUMBURG SUMMER THEATRE PRESENTS ALL SHOOK UP | |
Get ready to shake, rattle, and roll when Schaumburg Summer Theatre presents All Shook Up at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts this summer!
Featuring the talents of high school and college students, Schaumburg Summer Theatre’s 34th annual production follows a small Midwestern town that is thrown into a frenzy with the arrival of Chad, a good-looking, motorcycle-riding roustabout, who rides from town to town with a guitar on his back, blue suede shoes on his feet, and a song in his heart.
Loosely based on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy bursts with high-energy performances of classics like "Heartbreak Hotel," "Hound Dog," "Jailhouse Rock," "Don't be Cruel," and more.
All Shook Up runs for five performances held over two weekends, July 26 - Aug. 4. For more information and to purchase tickets ($28 / $24 seniors and students), visit the Prairie Center website or call (847) 895-3600.

| LOCAL WARNING SYSTEMS FOR SEVERE WEATHER | |
The Northwest Central Dispatch System tests the local outdoor warning system on the first Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m. and is prepared to activate the system in Schaumburg when there has been a confirmed sighting of a tornado tracking toward the community; a tornado warning for the community issued by the National Weather Service (NWS); or reports of storm damage due to winds of 70 mph or greater along with golf ball sized hail. Sirens will go off every 10 minutes until the warning expires. The warning sirens will only be activated for the towns identified in the warning polygon identified by the NWS.
There are also more than 40 lightning detectors in Schaumburg, most of them located on Schaumburg Park District properties such as parks, golf courses and swimming pools. From spring through fall, between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., the alarms sound when there is lightning within 10 miles. The warning consists of one long 60-second siren and flashing lights. After conditions are determined safe, the siren will sound three, 5-second blasts and the flashing light will turn off, indicating it is safe to resume outdoor activity. The Village of Schaumburg has lighting detectors on the grounds of the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center, 101 Schaumburg Court, and in the Town Square Plaza to provide additional safety to the public.
As a reminder, the outdoor warning system sirens are not designed to alert residents inside their homes or vehicles but rather to warn people who are outside to seek shelter. Most people will not be able to hear the warning sirens inside their homes. To receive severe weather-related alerts when you are inside a residence, the National Weather Service and state and local emergency management officials strongly encourage people to have either a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) All Hazards Weather Radio with battery backup or Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) installed and configured on your mobile device.
Severe weather can happen anytime. Be ready by reviewing the severe weather preparedness tips online. For more information on the village's lightning detection and outdoor warning systems, visit the website.
