Schaumburg Village President Tom Dailly was recently installed as the President of the Northwest Municipal Conference (NWMC). His term runs through June 2024.
The Northwest Municipal Conference is a membership-supported association of 42 municipalities and 1 township representing a population of over 1.2 million Illinois residents. Established in 1958, the Conference serves to strengthen local government and enhance intergovernmental cooperation in the north and northwest suburbs of Chicago.

SCHAUMBURG APPROVES FRAMEWORK FOR THE DISTRICT
Schaumburg’s Village Board unanimously approved a comprehensive development framework for The District at Veridian, which will include more than one million square feet of retail, restaurant, residential and office space making it the largest mixed-use development in the village.
Officials approved the measure at the June 13 Village Board meeting for the land located west of Meacham Road, south of Algonquin Road, and north of Progress Parkway. This dense development is proposed to create a uniquely urban experience, which will provide opportunities for shopping, dining, living and working all within a pedestrian-friendly, walkable neighborhood.
The village has been working to refine the design and layout of this proposed development for The District for the past several years. The area is essentially divided into four main blocks with additional outlots wrapping around Meacham and Algonquin Roads, as well as the center median area on Veridian Boulevard.
The framework plan approves conceptual plans for The District. Future, more detailed review of individual components of the development will take place at various stages of the project. Construction on the first block is anticipated to begin in 2024.
The District is one development within the village’s larger redevelopment of 90 North. For more information on 90 North progress, visit the website.

VILLAGE OF SCHAUMBURG RECOGNIZED AS OUTSTANDING NAVY RESERVE EMPLOYER
The Village of Schaumburg was recognized as one of America’s outstanding Navy Reserve employers for 2023 during the Navy Employer Recognition Event (NERE) held in San Diego on June 7.
The annual event recognizes employers who provide outstanding support to Navy Reserve sailors who work for their organizations in a civilian capacity. The all-day event included tours of Navy ships including USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), static displays of aircraft and facilities and a dinner reception with flag officers and representatives from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).
Schaumburg was one of approximately 50 civilian employers from across the nation that was recognized at the event. Interim Human Resources Director Jean Bueche accepted the award on the village’s behalf.
NERE provides an opportunity for employers to get better acquainted with the military commitments of their employees who are members of the Navy Reserve, providing a deeper understanding of the importance of employer support to Navy warfighting readiness.
The village regularly demonstrates its support of veterans, those transitioning from active military duty, and Reserve and Guard personnel. In addition to the support and commitment shown in village efforts with ESGR, the village is expanding its abilities to attract veteran and active military candidates, to support and recognize those with prior and current military service, and to position the village effectively as a “military friendly” employer. Schaumburg Police Department Begins July Fourth Safety Campaign
The Schaumburg Police Department has begun its July 4th traffic enforcement with a focus on impaired and unbuckled drivers. The safety campaign is running now through July 5 to encompass three weekends leading up to the Independence Day holiday, one of the deadliest times on Illinois roads. Plan ahead to keep upcoming 4th of July celebrations safe. Designate a sober driver, don't drive distracted and always wear your seat belt. If you are impaired, take mass transit, call a family member to get you home safely, or use a ride-share service. If you see a drunk driver, pull over safely and dial 911.
