CHECK PRESENTED FOR MOBILE RESPONSE UNIT
Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi and his staff recently met with Schaumburg Village President Tom Dailly, village trustees, and others to present the village with a $340,000 check in support of a proposed mobile response unit to assist with mental health and substance abuse issues. The proposed unit would be used to provide proactive care and education by going into the community in partnership with various agencies to offer a comprehensive menu of services from prevention through recovery. The village would staff the unit during peak hours to accommodate the greatest needs for mental illness related incidents and would work in partnership with local agencies such as the Elk Grove Police Department, Start Here Addiction Rehabilitation and Education (SHARE) program, the Kenneth Young Center, and Live4Lali.

The mobile response unit program was submitted by the Schaumburg Police Department’s Human Services Division as a request to Congressman Krishnamoorthi’s Office for Community Project Funding and is anticipated to be funded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) program. STRIKE IMPACTING SCHAUMBURG CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
A strike currently underway by members of the International Union of Operating Engineering Local 150 is now impacting local construction projects in Schaumburg, which has resulted in delays and suspension of projects that are in progress.

Projects affected include the village’s Annual Street Repair program, Weathersfield Way, and Summit Drive. The strike is also impacting the Cook County Department of Transportation & Highways project on Roselle Road as well as the Illinois Department of Transportation’s work at Meacham and Algonquin.

Minimal work will continue on these projects as can be accommodated with existing materials.
Local 150 is on strike against major material producers and quarries across northern Illinois. The companies produce aggregate materials including sand, gravel and crushed stone that are essential to the production of asphalt, concrete, and many other construction materials. The workers operate heavy equipment that is critical to the routine operations of these facilities.

This delay will impact project schedules, and until the strike is over, the exact extent of the delay is unknown. The village will provide updates to these projects as new information is received.
