NEW PERMITTING AND LICENSING SOFTWARE TO IMPROVE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
Members of the Schaumburg Village Board recently approved a measure to implement new permitting and licensing software that will result in significant customer service improvements. The new software will provide a portal that will serve as a virtual storefront/counter for customers. Customers will submit applications directly into this portal and can see the status of their application, schedule inspections, and communicate directly with staff through the portal. Inspection results will be recorded in the portal and customers/applicants will receive electronic notice of the results.
In addition to direct customer service improvements, this modern system will reduce duplicate processes and will improve efficiency so that staff can focus more on customer service.
The new permitting and licensing system affects several departments that are currently integrated into the submittal and review process of permits and licensing. The new system is anticipated to be available later this year. Additional information will be provided in village communications once a more detailed timeline is finalized. For information on permits and licensing, visit the village’s website or dial 311 in the village.

Ask a Firefighter: What Do You Do with an Expired Fire Extinguisher?
Although the chemicals in fire extinguishers are non-toxic and safe to use, they must be handled by someone trained and licensed to properly dispose of chemicals. Old or expired fire extinguishers should never be thrown in the trash, nor can they be dropped off at the fire station. Fire extinguisher disposal service is provided by the Village of Schaumburg at their seasonal recycling events. The next Community Recycling Event is taking place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 15 in the Wintrust Field West Lot, 1999 S. Springinsguth Rd. For more information on the event, visit the website. Questions for the fire department should be directed to Tony Piccolo.
