DIAL-A-RIDE TRANSPORTATION (DART) SERVICE CHANGES
Due to rising costs, a nationwide driver shortage, and decreased overall program ridership since the pandemic, the Village of Schaumburg will be implementing service changes to the Dial-A-Ride Transportation (DART) program.

Effective May 1, DART will cost $4 for regular service and $2 for reduced fares. Patrons who are eligible for reduced fare must present a valid driver’s license or state issued ID for age verification, a valid student ID, or an RTA-issued identification card with the number beginning with “D”, “S,” or “P.”

Additionally, beginning May 1, the DART program will no longer provide service on Saturdays. The DART program will continue to operate Monday through Friday and dispatchers will take calls from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. which is current practice, with the last pickup taking place at 9 p.m.
Advanced reservations will no longer be accepted, and the program will return to same-day reservations only.

The village thanks you for continuing to use DART. If you have any questions, please contact the Transportation Department by email or calling (847) 923-3861. For more information, please visit the website.

APRIL PROCLAIMED AS FAIR HOUSING MONTH
At the March 28 board meeting, the village signed a proclamation to celebrate and acknowledge Fair Housing Month. Fair Housing Month celebrates the passage of the Fair Housing Act, the landmark civil rights law signed on April 11, 1968, that made discrimination in housing transactions unlawful. The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing because of race, national origin, religion, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, and familial status. The State of Illinois and Cook County prohibit discrimination against additional protected classes. The village is committed to furthering fair housing by supporting housing programs and partnering with agencies that provide fair housing services. For more information, visit the village's website.

Open Communities, one of the agencies the village works with, is hosting a virtual "Fair Housing 101 Workshop" on Tuesday, April 4. For more information, visit their website.
