VILLAGE-WIDE STREET SWEEPING PROGRAM TO BEGIN MARCH 11
|
The village's street sweeping services, provided by LRS CleanSweep, will resume the week of March 11. The program will cover more than 400 miles of village roadways from March to November. The sweeping will be conducted in various cycles for different areas, including residential streets, the Woodfield area, and industrial areas within the village.
The street sweepers are designed and engineered to remove debris and residue from the street surface and curb line. A build-up of leaves congests sweepers and risks sweepers catching fire. Please follow the yard waste preparation guidelines found in the article below or on the village's website for collection services resuming in April.

USE MEETUP SPOT FOR SAFE INTERNET EXCHANGES
|
Did you know the Schaumburg Police Department provides a safe location for the public to conduct online purchases and exchanges? The designated "MeetUp Spot" is located in the front parking lot of the police department, 1000 W. Schaumburg Rd., and is under 24-hour video surveillance.
The safe exchange location eliminates the need for two strangers to exchange items at their residences and can help deter criminal activity to keep both the buyer and seller safe. The public is encouraged to continue using best safety practices for all exchanges in addition to using this safe location whenever possible. Learn more about the safe exchange location and other safety programs on the village's website.

SCHAUMBURG RESIDENT LAVERNE HORGAN FEATURED IN REMARKABLE WOMEN SERIES
Schaumburg resident LaVerne Horgan started a food pantry at the Church of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in 2004. Since then, LaVerne has put in 30 hours a week for the past two decades to ensure no one goes hungry. Her dedication to feeding the community has contributed to the pantry’s growth into helping over 700 families in our community per month.
To commend her for her dedication, LaVerne’s fellow pantry volunteers nominated her for WGN TV's Remarkable Women series. She was featured in the above video as one of four finalists for its 2024 Woman of the Year award.
The village thanks LaVerne for her continued service to the community!
