EXPERIOR TRANSPORT GROUNDBREAKING
Schaumburg village officials attended the groundbreaking event held May 16 for Experior Transport, which is a transport and logistics company that is developing the 55-acre property located at Irving Park and Rodenburg roads. Village President Tom Dailly provided a brief welcome to attendees followed by highlighting the project’s many benefits to the community.
Experior plans to construct a 140,000 square foot corporate headquarters, warehouse space and fueling station in addition to truck parking. The completion of this project is anticipated to result in more than $40 million being invested into the subject property as well as 200 new high-paying jobs and annual tax revenue of more than $425,000 for the Village of Schaumburg and other taxing bodies. Construction is anticipated to begin this summer.
In addition, a new access road and bike path will connect Rodenburg Road to the Schaumburg Metra Station parking lot through a $1.25 million Rebuild Illinois Regional Economic Development grant from the State of Illinois as part of the project. INCLUSION EDUCATION FOR EMPLOYEES CONTINUES
The Village of Schaumburg continues its efforts to enhance organizational culture by partnering with Dr. Steve L. Robbins, founder and owner of S.L. Robbins & Associates, to achieve the village's strategic goals and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Dr. Robbins believes issues of inclusion and diversity are fundamentally issues of human behavior in a world filled with human differences. His life experiences and academic background in communication science, social psychology and cognitive neuroscience create the foundation from which he crafts his talks and workshops. Dr. Robbins facilitated two workshops for employees where he used a compelling science-based approach to discuss building a foundation of belonging and inclusion at the Village of Schaumburg. Some of Dr. Robbins' key takeaways urged employees to be more open-minded of others; have a sense of curiosity to learn and understand others; and think about different journeys people may have taken to arrive where they are today.
Additional supervisory-level training will be provided for leadership staff throughout the organization to continue promoting a culture where employees feel supported, valued, and have a sense of belonging. For more information about the village’s efforts, contact Jean Bueche or dial 311 in Schaumburg.

CONGRATULATIONS SCHAUMBURG HIGH SCHOOL DEBATE TEAM!
Schaumburg’s Village Board recognized members of the Schaumburg High School’s state champion debate team earlier this month. For this year’s state tournament, members had five weeks to prepare for 19 different topics, such as housing, food, and college affordability proposals; U.S. relations with Nigeria, El Salvador, China, Mexico, Cuba, and Brazil; facial recognition technology, and Supreme Court reform. While students may have had some background knowledge on these topics, some were completely new to them. The team researched the topics by reading academic journals, government publications, and newspapers to gain deep and broad knowledge. After researching and debating the topics, members competed against all of the other schools where debates were judged on how well they were delivered, organized, and argued. The Schaumburg High School debate team now holds seven titles since 2012 and many of its members will return next year. Congratulations on all your successes!
