PUBLIC SERVICE RECOGNITION WEEK
This week the Village of Schaumburg celebrated its dedicated employees through a variety of initiatives to help recognize their efforts as part of Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW). PSRW has been celebrated nationally the first full week of May since 1985. All village employees were treated to boxed lunches and had the ability to take part in several fun activities as part of the Healthy U Expo that featured employee raffles for prizes, a putt-putt challenge, sandwiches and sweet treats, an employee cook-off challenge, as well as opportunities to visit with vendors. The village thanks all employees for the role they play in making Schaumburg such a great place to live, work and visit!
ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION AND TREE CITY USA RECOGNITION
On April 29, staff from the village's Engineering and Public Works Department celebrated the 150th Arbor Day alongside 185 students from Winston Churchill Elementary School. A new Swamp White Oak tree was planted on the school's property and students learned about how trees help create healthy communities. Special thanks to Brian Neumann at The Fields for generously donating the tree planted at the event. The students also received samplings to take home.

Trees are an integral part of our community. Recently, Schaumburg received a Tree City USA® Growth Award in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. A Growth Award is bestowed to a community alongside their Tree City USA recognition for demonstrating environmental improvement and a higher level of tree care. This is the 17th year the village has received the Tree City USA recognition. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters. For more information, visit the Arbor Day Foundation website.

Electrical Aggregation Updates
The village recently approved a new agreement with Eligo Energy for the Electrical Aggregation Program which runs through November 2022 at a rate that will match the monthly ComEd Price-to-Compare. While some households were enrolled in this program in early 2022, due to volatility in the energy markets, a number of those accounts will be receiving a notice from ComEd informing them that they will no longer be served by our aggregation program supplier, Eligo Energy, and will be returned to ComEd's default supply service. As the aggregation program provides a price match of ComEd's default rates these accounts will continue paying ComEd's price-to-compare and the name Eligo Energy will no longer appear on the bill. If you have any questions, please visit the village's website or contact Eligo Energy.
