KENSINGTON GAINS BOARD APPROVAL
|
During the Village Board Meeting on Nov. 25, the board approved a redevelopment agreement with Kensington (IMKD 6, LLC). The redevelopment agreement outlines the obligations of Kensington, which include serving as the developer and managing the construction of the Entertainment District adjacent to the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel. As part of the agreement Kensington will be coordinating review of all bids with the village and marketing and recruiting additional restaurant and entertainment concepts for future pad sites. The term of the redevelopment agreement will run through the end of Dec. 2027, or when all obligations have been completed to develop the 23-acre entertainment district.
Village staff has been working with Kensington over the past two years to develop a Phase 1 project that would launch the Entertainment District. The proposed Phase 1 project includes Andretti Indoor Karting and Games, creating building pads for another entertainment user and a restaurant user, a 900 space parking structure with a pedestrian bridge into the Renaissance hotel, and digital signage for the convention center and Entertainment District.

The Village of Schaumburg is proud to be one of five agencies to be nationally recognized with the Excellence in Snow and Ice Control Award from the American Public Works Association for the seventh year running, the longest running agency to be accredited.

Door-to-Door Solicitor Safety
|
The village has recently received complaints from residents about door-to-door solicitors claiming to be from the village. In these instances, solicitors claimed there was an issue with water quality and arrived in an unmarked vehicle. The village would like to remind residents that all village employees will have their Village of Schaumburg badge and will be arriving in a marked Village of Schaumburg vehicle.
As a resident, if you are approached by a solicitor who does not have a permit, do not let them or any solicitor in your home. Please dial 911 immediately so that an officer can investigate the matter and confirm the situation is not a scam. Questions? Dial 311 in Schaumburg or view the website.
