|
Tracy Raimondo, Emergency Management and Accreditation Manager for the Schaumburg Fire Department, was recognized with the Outstanding Performance Award at the Nov. 9 Village Board meeting. The award was in recognition of her outstanding service in managing the village’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Raimondo led a team of village staff that coordinated logistics for a mass mask distribution event for residents in 2020 and engaged the Joint Emergency Management System in organizing two successful mass vaccination events earlier this year at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center, resulting in over 6,500 vaccinations. She also led efforts for the procurement of personal protective equipment for all village personnel.
The village thanks Tracy Raimondo for her actions, which ensured the village remained in compliance with county and state requirements, kept the village at the forefront of appropriate COVID-19 response and enhanced the safety of the citizens of Schaumburg.

Over the past few years, sightings of coyotes in the village have become more prevalent. Here are some safety tips should you encounter a coyote in your neighborhood:
- Always use a leash when walking your dog. Coyotes like to travel along trails, paths and waterways so use caution when traversing those areas.
- Residents with small pets should supervise them while outdoors. Cats should be kept indoors.
- When letting your dog out at dusk or after dark, check the yard for wild animals. Turn on lights and make noise to scare them off.
- Do not leave pet food outdoors, especially at night.
- If possible, keep garbage cans in the garage.
- Do not attempt to hand-feed coyotes or other wild animals.
For more safety information and coyote facts, please visit the village's website.

Fall Landscape Waste Disposal Reminders
|
The Village of Schaumburg would like to remind residents to avoid raking leaves or grass clippings into the street. Debris left in the street may block and clog sewers and inlets, causing storm water to back up. For this reason, leaves cannot be blown or disposed of onto village streets or raked into the parkways. This is a violation of village ordinance. Landscape waste may be placed at the curb no earlier than 4 p.m. the day preceding residents' scheduled pick up day through the second full week of December. For more information on the village's yard waste collection program, visit the village's website or dial 311 in Schaumburg.
