SCHAUMBURG NOW 12TH LARGEST COMMUNITY IN ILLINOIS
According to new data released this fall by the U.S. Census Bureau, the Village of Schaumburg’s population increased by 6% between the 2010 and 2020 Censuses. This population increase is also much more substantial than each of our municipal neighbors, as shown in the chart above. With a total population at 78,732 people, Schaumburg is now the 12th largest community in Illinois.

Along with the total population increase, Schaumburg's diversity continues to grow with a wide range of ethnicities and cultures settling into the community. Offering excellent schools, a superb park district, numerous houses of worship, and superior village services, Schaumburg is proud to be a welcoming and inclusive community that is home to more than 25,900 immigrants. In addition to premier shopping destinations like Woodfield Mall, Schaumburg boasts more than 90 miles of bike paths, dozens of parks, and recreational facilities, over 200 restaurants, the 135-acre Spring Valley Nature Center and Historic Farm site, and our beautiful 5,000+ seat Wintrust Field – home of the Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers.

These are just a few of the many reasons why Schaumburg continues to be a great place to live, work and enjoy! For more information, please visit the village's website. Additional census data is expected to be released throughout this year and into 2022 and can be found at the U.S. Census Bureau website.

Schaumburg also received a 20th Anniversary Special Participation Award for its continued commitment and dedication to participating in the Digital Cities Survey. The awards will be presented during a virtual awards ceremony on Dec. 8.

SUMMIT DRIVE RESURFACING
Work is wrapping up on the first segment of the Summit Drive resurfacing project that began this fall and includes the area from Weathersfield Way to Wise Road. The improvements consisted of milling and resurfacing Summit Drive along with spot curb repairs and installation of handicapped ramps at sidewalk crossings that previously did not meet ADA standards.

As part of the project, new striping indicates an exclusive bike lane in each direction with additional bike lane markings that will be forthcoming. In addition, a dedicated parking lane has been added to the east side of the street. Work is still being wrapped up on the project and the village is in the process of modifying existing “No Parking” signage on the east side of the street.

The Village of Schaumburg received federal funding to improve Summit Drive from Wise Road to Schaumburg Road. The second portion of the resurfacing project from Weathersfield Way to Schaumburg Road is anticipated to begin in 2022. For more information on this project, please dial 311 in the village.
